M205 safe with a coating ?

Does the Meguiars M205 polish have anything in it that would cause a coating to fail? (asking before I use it)

Using it before you Coat a Car? if so just follow up with a Panel wipe (CarPro Eraser or Panel Wipe or IPA[isopropyl Alcohol mixed with water how much varies by opinion]) to remove the oils and get the surface sterile for good adhesion of the Coating.

Are you trying to polish a car with a coating previously applied or just prepping the car prior to coating?
 
Sorry, I want to polish, then apply the coating. I was under the impression that if the polish had any oils, etc., that the coating wouldn't adhere properly, so I wanted to make sure M205 would not cause a problem with the coating

Don't feel bad Ron. Thats exactly what I thought he was asking to. I think by the way that it was asked it could easily be interpreted either way. I was going to tell him the same thing that the abrasives in the 205 would remove the coating.

For a while there, I ws going to go to Home Depot to pick out my Cialis tub
 
205 can leave some residue behind due to its lubrication. Just be sure to wipe it down really well.
 
Polishing a car with M205 to remove any light defects before applying a coating will work perfectly fine. Some polishes do have more oils than others. Just follow the coating manufacturers application directions and you'll be fine. For example Optimum recommends using an IPA (15-20% dilution) to wipe down the car after polishing, GTechniq recommends Panel Wipe, CarPro recommends Eraser, etc etc. I usually wipe the car down twice to make sure all of the oils are removed.

Just curious, which coating are you applying?
 
205 is fine as long as you do not short cycle it too much - if you do, it will have a glazing effect.

Wipe down the car with eraser, then follow up with IPA.
 
I wanted to use the M205 because I already have that, but was planning to get CP Eraser.

Now, I'm looking at Cquartz UK Edition, leaning more towards that with the Reload
