M105 overkill?

I have a mustang with very moderate swirls would M105 be overkill you think or would it be just right with a green edge pad and I would be able to do the whole vehicle really quickly? What is the concensus here? I see that it is considered to be a great product but is it overkill for the typical diy guy who wants a nice look to cruise around in?

I think pad and pressure make the difference between just right and overkill. I just used M105 on my new RX and found it not to be overkill. I used a mellow polishing pad and not the wool or a cut pad.

Just my 2 cents!

I agree. I have used M105 with a polishing pad with medium pressure and it's rather mild, yet fast, effective, and finishes down very well on most paints.

Yeah, since the abrasives in M105 don't break down it's only as agressive as you make it. You can use a polishing pad and only work the product until the swirls have been removed and you'll be just fine.

I think it's just right for moderate to heavy swirls, it was definitely not the super cut compound I thought it would be. Saying that though I would still start out with something even milder because there is no point in removing more clear coat than is necessary.

Until you put the pad to the paint, none of us can know if #105 is overkill. Start with your least aggressive combo and move up as needed.
