Guys, this is a great thread. It is the kind that I hope we can take and perhaps use to everyone?s advantage. When the original articles were written on the KBM method, they were written with what we thought were the best instructions. Like many things, some of the elements have changed (M105) and frankly, we have all learned more about the process. I will look at the articles and update them.

Jeff thanks for pointing out the issues you had with the process, and omissions on our site, we really don't want our customers to have any problems with any of our products or suggestions. It is one of the primary reasons we started TID. I appreciate your comments and will correct any issues soon.

Kevin, again, thanks for your input and sharing of knowledge. Your research into this process has had what I believe, is a monumental affect for many detailers and enthusiast. Thanks. :notworthy:

Todd, thanks, as always.

Todd,

M105, when it first was introduced, was a different formula then it is today. I personally prefer the older M105 in terms of cut (and sometimes finishing) yet it is was subject to the problems you listed. Meguiar's reformulated M105 to make it wetter and easy to use. This could be part of the problem? The old M105 will say by use for rotary or hand where as the new M105 says rotary, hand, or orbital.

I have the newer M105 that says DA approved on the bottle

And here is the problem expanded. Both GMBlack3a and myself have made numerous posts suggesting that the polish can be continued to work past what would be continued a flash point. However how can a frustrated newbie be expected to sort through what is valuable information and just plain hype?! They cannot. ...

I never stumbled across this information, wish I had, before I figured it out for myself.

Your Porsche looks great! 964 or 930?

Thanks, it is a 1986 Porsche 911 Coupe (3.2L Carrera) - Black with black interior
It's my everyday car - 146,000 miles

...Thank you for your feed back. To be honest, my perspective is so far removed from being a beginning polisher that I sometimes over look things that might cause concern for beginners. The goal of our write ups and education is to help people of all skill levels in all regards. ...

Thank you for the thoughtful responses to my points. Even when you do not agree with me, I find you to be wrong in a most pleasant manner. :D

I believe the horse is now well past dead and it's time to move on to other things...

Thanks ! Jeff

The Menzerna 85 should work just fine following M105.

I have used both M205 and Menzerna Final Polish II.

While they work differently (non-diminishing vs diminishing), I find both are capable of giving great results.

Try it and see...

I tried M105 and M205 for the 1st time today. Really like it, however; still think I could have used a pad stronger than LC orange flat. I think I got about 85% correction using PC 7424. What would be the next stronger pad?

Try a Cyan HT

I've also used a purple foamed wool pad with M105 and it gets the job done very well.

I also LOVE PO85RD. I've followed M105 with it on a black and even blue LC pad and finesse a brilliant shine out of some paints. Don't toss your bottle of it, Red Jewel SS.

Help me out

Where does M105 line up against the Menzerns compound / polishes.... what I mean is it more or less abraisive than Menz/powergloss. Thanks in advance... going to have to get some to try.

Boy did I learn a bunch here. I ordered my PC/KBM kit whatever you want to call it yesterday. LOL thanks to all.

Especially Jeff U..., candid conversation took out the mystery for me. I will have more confidence as a newbie. I pity the swirl on my black truck. I will practice there before I will even think of touching my ZO6.

Now you PAC shippers, get that thing out to me soonest. To bad I have to wait the long trip to the West Coast.

Nonetheless, great thread.

Kevin and Todd thanks for all that info! I swear you two should work at NASA. I wonder with the new system will the 105/205 combo be old news after everyone gets theirs.
