M101, M100 via microfiber pads?

Well, it's safe to say I'm officially tired of using M105. It dusts, it slings, it makes a mess. Great results no doubt, but the mess that's left after it is bothersome. I think I would actually spend the same amount of time working a less aggressive product longer, when compared to the time it takes to clean up 105's mess.


 


SO, I have tried M100 and M101 and love them. Great cut, and very minimal dusting. Also, they both wipe off like butter. Now my question.....how will these work via microfiber cutting pads? M100 is obviously designed for wool, and M101 is obviously designed for foam...but have any of you tried them with microfiber yet?
 
nowhere near the dusting of 105. I've found that a couple drops of 205 on a pad with 105 keeps dusting down, but also reduces the cut as well...
 
<sup>Love M101 and M100 on mf pads. If you have a lot of m105 sitting around try mixing in a little M100 or D300. You might be surprised.</sup>
 
M100/205/D300 over 101 simply due to dust and the nature of 101 as a really strong compound.
 
M205 on a MF finishing pad, prime well, clean after each section and prime again. With a rupes 21 or rotary/dynabrade there is not much that this combo wont cut. Been using it to do 95% of our corrections over the last 15 months. 
 
So which one do you folks recommend, M100 or M101.  Wouldn't mind more cut than M105 for those rare spot-corrections on the Audis.


 


The Enforcer- I'd guess he's getting the cut with M205/MF primarily from using the Rupes 21 or the rotary/dynabrade.

Actually seems to be quite the 2nd wind for M205 that many have been raving about. Haven't tried it yet personally, but from what people have been claiming it's the bees knees. 
 
I used both 100 and 101 in comparison to 105 today on a C6 corvette today. My thoughts:


 


1.105 still very hard to remove, short work time, dries up to fast, doesn't glide well on paint, and is hard as shit to remove.


 


2.100...I compounded most of the car with this  and purple LC wool. It works well with wool, and I like the safety that wool provides by keeping temps down. Low dusting, goes on SUPER smooth, removal is very easy as well. You just have to apply more because it seems that this polish is a diminishing abrasive (unlike 105, but who cares bc 105 dries out much faster than it breaks down). Also on this rock hard paint, this combo finished down "almost" LSP ready.


 


3.101...Used this with a blue hydro LC pad and IMO it cuts more than the above combos. I used this to spot correct the heavy defects areas. I just don't like the heat associated with compounding with a foam pad. It goes on just as easy as 100, removal may be a little EASIER, and it is lower dusting.


 


Final thoughts: M105 will stay on the shelf and not be used unless I am removing sanding scratches. M100 via wool and M101 via foam cutting pad is the ticket. I have not tried these combos with MF pads yet!
 
The Enforcer- Thanks for that summary of how you view/use the three compounds.  Some day I oughta pick up some M101.


 


David Fermani- If M205 regains popularity maybe somebody will buy my gallon of it!
 
I honestly don't see how there are finishing polishes that outperform M205....maybe there are but I'm happy enough with it to not venture to anything else yet.
 
The Enforcer- I was downright *shocked* by how some of my other Finishing Polishes improved the best I could get out of M205.  After seeing that diff I decided there was no reason for me to keep struggling with the required (that's "required IMO") TSO removal, which I found quite difficult (IPA didn't touch 'em).


 


I was a big fan of M205, bought/used a few quarts and then bought a whole gallon of it.  But it fell into my disfavor due to extended first-hand experience.  Eh, not hating on it the way it must sound, but I sure do better with Menzerna and HD Polish.  Even prefer 1Z Hi-Gloss, which had basically replaced the M205 until I tried the HD (Menzerna wasn't as user-friendly as the 1Z or HD, but it did leave a great finish).


 


No, no...besides not hating on M205 I'm not trying to nudge you into another product, just giving my reasons for not using/liking M205 these days.
 
I like M101 with a dab of D300 via microfiber pad when cutting. It's too aggressive for some paints though in my opinion.


 


Have some 100 sitting there as well but haven't used it as of yet.
