Just looking for my next compound. M101 worked well with wool and foam. Dusted a good bit but it did cut. I have 3d aat but it doesn`t as well.

Whoooaa!
If this is true. Gonna be some ticked off Detailers

What they oughta discontinue is that "Mix w/ 3 drops M205, spritz with 2.75ml Holy Water, dance on one leg while applying product to pad and then pray to Barry Meguiar while spreading product" M105 nonsense.

Why the heck does Megs keep discontinuing the good stuff?
I see they brought back the 3" MF discs by popular demand but now discontinued the m101?
Lol I still have a almost full 32oz bottle of m105. Barely used because with all the other great compounds out there that are so much easier to use it just doesnt make sense.

Before you go freak out detailers on here, can you post a verifiable source stating that it`s been discontinued? As far as we know there are no plans on it being discontinued and we just made an order for more this week :)

So Autogeek still has it in stock. Detailed Image, Amazon and detailing dot com show it on stock. Have Paul add it to the Autopia store.

Yeah it was the autogeek website a little while back. I typed in meguiars m101 discontinued and someone else saw that they had it labeled as discontinued. I cant find it on the autopia site un meguiars mirror glaze products either.

We still have it: Meguiars M101 Foam Cut Compound
I think a while ago it was listed as being discontinued on our site (maybe a year ago?) buts its been updated for a while, could have viewed a cached version. Anyways if that`s what you were going off of than no need to worry, it`s an extremely popular product and I don`t see them discontinuing anytime soon.

Nail, meet hammer.

Glad to see I wasn`t the only one that struggled with it.

If they "discontinued" M105, I do not think there would be an uproar (at least not from me). M101 (the European foam-cut compound) and M100 and even D300 have kind-of supplanted/replaced M105 in my eyes. BudgetPlan1`s analysis of the water spritz/mix with M205 methodology for using M105 to reduce the micro-marring produced dusting of M105 during its compounding work-cycle application could not be more accurate, not to mention clean-up required in seams and everywhere else dust gathers/end up on a vehicle. It`s a deal-breaker for many professional detailers and hobbyists like myself.

The pricey M101 competes with the likes of 3D ATT Compound, Menzerna`s FG400, Sonax Cutmax, Optimum Hyper Compound, Griot`s Garage Fast Correcting Cream, and Rupes Zephir Gloss Coarse Gel-compound to name a few. Is it "better" than these? Which ones do you use? Let us Autopians know how it compares in your experience.

I *think* that M101 (M100/D300) is the only SMAT product among them (maybe Optimum is SMAT?), which for whatever reason I seem to prefer when compounding with a Flex 3401. M101, price-wise, it`s competitive with the DAT compounds mentioned above and, for me, when going after really heavy stuff, M101 is just the quickest, neatest way to go.

Have to say, though, after working a bit with some Scholl Concepts `mid-range` S20 (apparently some kinda `rapid` DAT technology) I`ll be looking at their heavier compounds as well. Unfortunately, that stuff is kinda expensive....and the bottles have to be THE WORST ever conceived for dispensing small amounts of product. But it works, very, very nicely...and relatively quickly.
