LS430, Dakota, Rodeo, Explorer, F250, Charger

2005 Lexus LS430. Second time I have sealed this one. The paint still looks really excellent, no spider swirling or scratchs to speak of. The 4 month old application of Detailer's Pride Premium Surface Shield was holding up well, good beading, decent slickness so I thought "why mess with a good thing?" and simply reapplied another layer. PSS is really a nice product, reminds me very much of UPP and it is incredibly slick!

Peal/metallic shot-the color came out a little weird but you get the idea.

2001 Dodge Dakota. First time customer. The interior was loading with dog hair, spills, etc so I am glad this was an exterior detail! The paint was actually in decent shape, just light spider swirls and some black goop on the driver's side. Must have been some sort of spill.



I went with Optimum Polish using a Meguiars polishing pad and Poorboy's EX-P Sealant by hand. Really nice combo on metallics.

2005 Ford F-250. I polished and waxed this one along with the Cayenne and LX470 a couple weeks ago but didn't finish before it got dark. I had used 'Pink' Moose with a Meguiars polishing pad and topped with Natty's Blue. 10 days later, I just gave it an Optimum No Rinse wash and then tried out ValuGard's Fast Finsh, which is a spray wax that you can use on wet or dry finishes.

2006 Dodge Charger. Waxed it in early December with Natty's Blue and like the F250, when I finished it was too dark for pics. I finally had it outside the parking garage for a wash (Optimum No Rinse) so I snapped a couple pics. Natty's Blue seems to be holding on to it's slickness and look, although a couple washes with No Rinse probably helps since it does contain some polymers that add slickness. Anyway, I think it looks really good 6 weeks out from a carnauba wax job. :)

2001 Isuzu Rodeo. Another one I am glad was exterior only. This one is at the office that rewards their top performers with one step exterior details from your's truly. :)



The paint was suprisingly good and the bosses pay for a one step only anyway so I am glad it wasn't in need of any deep polishing-although a light polish would probably have made it look even better. I used Meguiars #20 Polymer Sealant with a Meguiars polishing pad.

2003 Ford Explorer. Same office, same deal. Meguiars #20 with a polishing pad. This one had some scratches on the hood but they were too deep to remove even if the boss or the owner would have popped for polishing. Overall though, the paint was decent-just the typical light spider swirling you might expect on a 3 year old SUV. #20 seems to have some filling properties so it definitely looked pretty good when I finished.

On the Isuzu for instance how do you protect the paint that is behind the brush gaurd?



What about vehicles with bug deflectors, do you remove them first?



All noob questions I'm sure but I'd rather know then not if I run across this :D

If the bug deflector comes off easy, I'll remove it and I use a foam hand pad to get behind the brush guards.
 
Scott...I am surprised for the one steps that you are using #20. I thought you would use more of a cleaner wax like Long Haul or Color X.
 
Excellent work!! All are very reflective!! That Dakota and Charger are my favorites. :cool:



What are your opinioins about Natty's blue, I'm interested in ordering some?

I go with #20 if the paint has minimal swirling. Honestly, any one step with decent durability isn't going to be very good at removing anything other than very light defects anyway. Besides, #20 looks great on metallic paint. :)



Avy-I really like Natty's Blue. Pretty easy on and off, real wet shine. Not super deep like Carnauba Moose or Souveran but really wet looking.
 
The running boards on that Explorer are a PITA to clean... and never stay clean for long at all. I hate doing them on my wifes 04 :(
