Lowe's $10 Foam Gun

Hi guys



I have the Lowes gun badged as something else. I consider it to be more of a product flinger the a full on foamer. Its great for products like APC'ing arches and using bug squash as a pre cleaner!!



You guys really need to get Snow Foam with a bit a car shampoo (like 901) mixed in it b/c then you will get the frothy foamie mix that sits on the car and is dedicated to that duty. You can then go ahead and blast off when it has softened the dirt or use the remaining mix with your Mitt.

I hated the lowes version. It was fun the first time I guess. Mine clogged up about the 10th time I used it, and rather taking the time to try to clean it out, I just threw it away.. After every use I would empty the reservoir and run clean water through the nozzle trying to avoid that and it still happened..

I called Gilmour directly and ordered the 75QGFMR. It wasn't any cheaper by ordering direct, $67.59 plus shipping ($6.00 to SC). I opted for the 75 (Foamaster) unit as opposed to the 95 series (Foamaster II). I like the brass fittings rather than plastic on the 95. That's the main difference as was explained to me. Apparently bleach kills brass, so for those where bleach is used, the Foamaster will fail :-(



I have seen similar units online on some of the autocare sites, but I felt better knowing exactly what I was getting by ordering from them directly. I know PakShak has the same unit but I'm sure shipping from Hawaii to the East Coast would have killed it.



I've been following this thread so far and visited my local Lowe's with no success, so I opted to bite the bullet.
 
While I have nothing real to add, I have to toss out a thank you to tom p. for the unbiased reviews and videos of both products. It is evident that you get what you pay for, and depends on your budget and how much you are willing to pay.

I actually found them first on youtube and then i found this thread. The comparison was very helpful. I've been thinking about getting a foam gun to speed up my washes and reduce marring.

Chris, is the soap/foam output adjustable on Foamaster I AKA 75 series?

Kelly, the rep that I spoke with from Gilmour stated that it is. It has to be the 75QFMR (the MR being multi-ratio). So the only difference with the 95QFMR is that the 75 is made with brass fittings and the 95 with plastic. This is all from Gilmour direct :secret

This item is found in the hose section at Lowe's, which is vast at this time of the year. I had to search for a while before I found it.



The handle is metal, has a heavy feel to it.



Sorry for the late reply. I am talkng about the gun you bought at Lowes. It was originally marked by CMA for around $26.
 
Well, only a 50% markup over Lowe's. Considering other identical items I've seen him market in the past, that's pretty modest.



He must spend some time here trying to harvest new ideas.

i'm sure he (Griots) does. he took the deodorant wax stick idea which was on here and viola, he comes out with it and probably took all the credit for it. the eurow shag towels are also pretty popular on here and the next issue of the griots magazine they come out with some. coincidence? the list goes on...
 
Looking at Tom P's videos it seems that the only thing that buying Lowe's gun does is make the Gilmour $10 more expensive.



I wonder if any math whiz's out there could calculate how much more soap you use with the Lowe's model than the Gilmour, and how many washes it would take for the extra amount of shampoo used to eclipse the price difference between the Gilmour and Lowes. Especially for those using the higher end shampoos.



Oh, and about it being made in Taiwan. It's a 1st word democracy and an ally of the US. Definitely better than something from China.
 
I've been using the Gilmour for about 1.5 yrs now. The inability to regulate the amount of soap being used (Lowe's foam gun) diminishes its value in my eyes. No calculator needed to figure that one out :)



You use a lot of soap with either of these devices. The problem with the Lowe's is that the ratio of soap applied is constantly changing as the little plastic jar fills with water where the Gilmour provides a constant mixture 'til the jar is empty.



I can still see some value in the Lowe's device: ideal for doing a "pre-soak" on a really dirty car during the winter months.

Those are all coming from Amazon. The second two sites are Amazon affiliate sites that simply display Amazon products on their site. If you buy through them they get a 5% or so commission. Look at the reviews, they are the same.
