Lord Vader, your H2 is ready, plus a couple Explorers, Carrera S, CJ beads

Scott: Question on the 997. Is that Jet Black or a metallic black? If it's Jet Black do you see any issues with overly soft paint on that car and it being very easily marred?

I've got a customer that sent me his 997S with 400 miles on it as after one wash and wax by himself the paint looked worse than my 135K mile black Audi. I found the paint to be soft beyond what should be acceptable. Not sure if there was a baking issue with the paint or it wasn't fully cured at delivery (which I find hard to believe)...but even wiping polish residue off the bumpers on the car with anything other than an ultra-plush towel from packshak would add marring to the paint. Just wondering if you saw the same with that black 997 or not. I've seen one other example here with a black Cayanne which worries me.

Andy-that 997 has the metallic black paint, as you can see in this shot from the first time I detailed it:

The paint seems to have the same hardness as most other newer paints has. However, I do have a customer with a Porsche Cayenne Turbo that is solid black and I have noticed that Poorboy's SSR2.5 and Meguiars DACP will haze the paint noticably, requiring Optimum Polish or Meguiars #80 to remove...and sometimes several passes. Real PITA to work on and he has me wax it at least every two months and I find I pretty much need to polish it every time. It seems to get scuffs more easily than even my 626 which has pretty soft paint.

2004 Hummer H2. Looks like how the FBI would order one. Debadged except for the H2 on the sides, no brush guard, no spare on the back, no roof rack. Really clean look, IMO.

Here are a few before/afters.

Rear door polished with a 50/50 mix of Optimum Polish and Optimum Compound using a Meguiars polishing pad and the excess removed with Optimum Car Wax. Front door is untouched.

Did you use wetsanding to remove the orange peel in this case?

When I try to remove the orange peel from my car, I use 2000 grit, 4000 grit, and the 3 1z polish, but I don't remove as much as you remove... The whole process by PC, I don't have rotative.

Thanks Scott !!

I didn't wetsand the H2. I highly doubt the owner loves it enough to pop for 20 hours of wetsanding and buffing. He mainly bought it as a business tax write-off.

You are removing wetsanding marks with a PC? Interesting. I love to see some pictures of the process. :)

Yes, I remove them. Look at this post:

I'm from Spain. Wetsanding = piel de naranja, ¿ok?. Look at #4. I reduced it with this process:

- Wetsanding 4000 Grit by PC;

- PC + polishes 1z and Propel PADs

After that:

- PoorBoys EX-P

- PoorBoys Nattys Blue.

Thank you !!

Regards !!
