Looking to purchase a new Polisher

Hey all!

How long should I wait after touching up some very small dings with paint before I 3M SMR,Z-1,and Z-5 on plastic.My plans are as follows.



1.wash with dawn

2.3M SMR

3.Z1

4.Z5



Suggestions welcome!
 
Give it 12 hours. Depends a lot on the type of paint, application thickness and humidity/temperature. 12 hours will cover it.;)
 
Help!!!!

I finally saved enough money to purchase a new polisher (unfortunately, not enough for a Flex), and I need some help. I have read a lot about the 3 different models that I am considering (PC 7424XP, Megs G110v2, or Griot's 6" Random Orbital Polisher), but there always seems to be so many different opinions on this toppic.

Can anyone help me? I could really use some advise.
 
Barry... I think you're going to find rave reviews on each of those 3 polishers. Personally, I don't think you could go wrong with any of them!

My choice was the PC 7424XP, and I love it. I polished a lot of vehicles this year (between March and November) and it never failed to give me the results I expected. Kevin Brown has done a great review on the G110v2 that was very impressive! And there are Griot's guys who wouldn't have anything else.

(Oh thanks Luster! That really helps with my decision!!!:banghead:) I just wanted to throw out some ideas to stimulate some conversation!!!:biggrin:

Thanks Bill,

I read Kevin Brown's thread on the G110v2 and it looked very impressive. The one thing that keeps bringing me back to the Griot's RO is the increased power rating.

True. I would be interesting to know who the manufacturer is and if it has a larger motor than the PC or if it's a PC motor that has been modified. Does Griot's claim it to be their own creation?
 
I can't find any info on who manufacturers the motor, but here are the high points:

As a current owner of the XPPC, I can't wait till the G110 V2 comes out. My experience over the last year (polishing in excess of 35 cars with the KBM) tells me that the XPPC is not that much of an improvement over the 7424. Have had my XPPC since June and before that used the 7424.

When Bret and I do KBM corrections together. He with the 7424 and me with the XPPC, I never finish very far ahead of him.
 
Okay I caved, bought the G110v2 about 30seconds ago.

I have my flex up for sale anyway so I figured it was a wash, old one out the door new one coming in... Retail rationalization, costing me $$ :out:
 
I would like to have the most powerful RO (not DA), just because I like RO's! They are so easy to use, produce a fantastic finish, and they are extremely safe to use.

I think that would be the Festool Rotext something or other... used it when I did some work with Bob and its a quality machine, bit awkward to handle at first but you adapt
