Looking to invest in some new stuff!! Looking for your feedback

I got the Autobrite Foam Lance form WaxWorkz, I love it. I'm about to order some Duragloss 901 for it as I've heard next to Optimum car wash, it's the foamiest soap out there in a lance.

Awww man I got the fever this winter and have been buying detailing stuff like its crazy. I just took advantage of the fake spring we're having in Jersey right now and put some of my winter aquisisions to work. With that I've found my new favorite car wash, Sonus Auto Shampoo, I love the stuff. I followed that up with a full claying. I then added a coat of Optimum Polish II on my brand new PC 7424. I've used the OPII before and its very versitle. My car didn't need much correction so I just used a polishing pad, but on my dad's Grand Marquie I used a light cutting pad and it worked very well in both duties.

I then hit up the front 3rd of my car with DoDo Juice Purple Haze (applied by hand) and then ran out of light since I got a late start. So far I am VERY pleased with the DoDo Juice. I can't wait to see how it looks with a second coat.

I did get a chance to try out P21S wheel cleaner on my polished billet rims and its by far the best stuff I've ever used on them. It could probably stand to be a little stronger for a painted or chrome rim, but for polished billet its perfect. I also sprayed my wheel wells down with Chemical Guys Bare Bones and as skeptical as I was when I bought it, I'm not at all now. I like it right now, but I have a feeling I'm gonna love it in the morning when I go back out to see how it settled.

Some other things that I picked up that I'm very pleased with:

PoorBoys World Natural Look, Adams #1 and #2 metal polish, Optimum Car Wax (spray), Sonus All Purpose Cleaner (this stuff is super concentraded and will last a long time with the way its diluted) and PBW's Trim Restorer.

Stuff I haven't had a chance to try out yet:

Klasse AIO, PBW's wheel sealer, DoDo Juice Lime Prime, PBW's Bold-n-Bright tire dressing and PBW's Spray and Wash.

The PBW Wheel seal has an interesting reputation. I just got some, and after 1 coat, am able to wipe grime off my wheels with just a dry MF. I'm washing my car tomorrow and adding a second coat, as the stuff seems to recommend 3, so we'll see how that goes.

I have polished billet wheels and the finish is super delicate. Its hard to find products that don't either haze them a little or scratch them. So far so good with the P21S, tomorrow as long as the rain holds off, I'll be hitting them up with some Adams #2 and a coat of Wheel Sealer. Hopefully it works out well.

..Why would the FK425 mar my paint. GM clear coat is super hard? I don't intend on using it as a wash, rather a gloss enhancer and "touch-up" product...

It's the *dirt* that you're QDing off that'll cause the marring. I'm just prone to erring on the side of caution with this...the clear on my Audis is harder than the clear on any of my GM B-bodies was, and if I QD them between washes I cause marring (maybe very *light* marring, but it's no longer perfect). I can't see creating a need to polish, I'd rather just let vehicles get dirty between washes. About the only time I use QDs between washes is for bird-bombs.

But hey, that's just me. As QDs go, FK425 is *really* good stuff and I especially like it for wheels (I use it on them after every wash). I *kinda* prefer some other QDs for use over carnaubas (again, after washes when the paint is clean so I won't get marring), but FK425 is my hands-down favorite for use over synthetic LSPs and it's not like it's *bad* over 'naubas. Leaves things *very* slick too. I don't get the same anti-static/anti-dust properties that some other people do, and I use other QDs (e.g., FK146) for jobs where I need more cleaning power, but if you haven't tried FK425 you really oughta get some.

FK often sends out a little product sample with each order, I suggest you request a sample tin of FK1000P. Heh heh, that little can will last a *LONG* time and it's great stuff for use on wheels. Applied after the ZAIO, and refreshed with FK425 after each wash it'd be simply perfect for that.

I took a look at the Finish Kare line. There are so many lines out there that after a while all the products sound the same. I am looking to try some new stuff, and round out my detailing collection. Finish Kare's products look interesting, before I step into yet another line, can anybody tell me what FK1000 has to offer? Does it offer any benefits over, P21s, Pinnacle, Collinite 845 & 476s, Meguiars, or Zaino (I have all these already). I am mainly looking for a really good, anti-static, gloss enhancing quick detailer that i can use after washing, and for minor touch ups. But like I said in my initial post, i am open to new products.

Yeah, the FK line, with all those item numbers, can get a bit overwhelming just like all the stuff Meguiar's offers! Mostly I think you're well-equipped with what you have now, but...well, I bet nobody's gonna dissuade you from trying the FK425 :D It's just one of those "gotta at least try it" products.

The little (free) sample tin of FK1000P would be more than enough for you to see if it fits into what you're doing; I'm still using mine and who knows when I'll ever use it up and start on my "regular" big tin of the stuff.. It's a sealant like Zaino/Klasse/etc. but in paste form. I don't *think* it'd be what you want for the Impala overall, but as long as you can get a free sample it's another thing worth trying out.

P.S. Just ordered some Flash Brown Royal today, and also some Acqua Gloss Tire Gloss.... Can't wait to give this stuff a try!

You are half right. CW&G and CW&C are essentially the same, except the &G has glossing agents in it. Both can be used as weekly washes with no damage to your LSP if mixed in the correct ratio. 1/2 oz to a gallon. Both will also strip your LSP if used in the stronger ratio of 2oz per gallon. Most use the CW&G for regular washes because it leaves the glossing agents behind and CW&C to strip LSP, because if you are stripping your LSP to polish or reapply a different LSP, you don't want to take a chance of the glossing agents interfering with your polishes or bonding.

That's exactly how I use the stuff. CW&G is one of my "must have" products.

About the FK line.... I just can't stop gushing about their whole line of products. I have yet to try an FK product that didn't impress. And they used to have flat rate shipping of five bucks per order. Hopefully they still do.

I agree about the FK425. It's a very fine QD. But using it on a dusty car will cause marring. It really doesn't matter what kind of qd you are using.... if you use it on a dusty car, you are going to eventually swirl the paint.

FK425 is also a great glass cleaner. It's also very good on tv screens, computer monitors, refrigerators and glass shower doors. I hear (not that I'd be so OCD as to actually try it ;) ) that putting a layer of 1000P Synthetic Paste Wax on glass shower doors is a great way to prevent water spots.

1000P Synthetic Paste Wax was my "go to" sealant on customer cars last season, and I have no reason to believe it won't fill the same role this year.

It is very hard to find a better performance/cost product line than Finish Kare 1.
