Looking to invest in some new stuff!! Looking for your feedback

Well,

I've got spring fever bad. For the last couple of weeks I have been compiling a list of new products I think I want to try. As soon as a good Detailed Image/Autogeek Discount comes around I plan to pull the trigger. I already have a decent arsenal, but I am running low on certain things.

Things I am buying...

Pinnacle Souveran Wax

Zaino Tire Gloss

Leatherique

Megs 105

Megs 205

P21s Wheel Cleaner Gel

Megs Wheel Brightener

Bilt Hamber Auto Balm

ZAIO

A Grit Guard for my bucket

P21s Total Auto Wash

P21s Polishing Soap

Meguiars NXT Glass Cleaner

Zaino Leather Conditioner

Aerospace 303 Protectant

Things I am not sure about....

-I want a FOAM GUN, but I am not sure which one to purchase. I need something that i can use with my electric power washer, and also with just a hose.

-I would like to change washes. I want a wash I can use as a Degreaser, and as a substitute of my dawn wash. I was thinking CHEMICAL GUYS CITRIS WASH AND CLEAR. I am want an LSP safe wash that I can use in my FOAM GUN. Something that will not strip LSP and that Foams like a MOFO for my FOAM GUN.

-Castrol Super Clean for Engine Degreasing.... Yay or nay?

-I need a quick detailer that I can use in between washes. I don't need to use it in direct sunlight, but I am totally tired of QD's that streak and leave what looks like water spots all over my paint. I also am tired of my current QD because it takes a lot of polishing with my microfiber to remove the moisture from my paint. I am thinking either ADAMS or CLEARKOTE or maybe even FK425?

-I also need something that can remove spots from carpet. I tried 303 Aerospace spot remover and it removed coffee stains just about 99.9% from my grey carpet. Although I am satisfied with the product, I am wondering if there is anything better? I was also interested in 303 Aerospace Upholstery Cleaner. Which one?

Just looking for opinions, critiques, or recommendations. I want to make sure I am going to get the most for my money. Hot products i may have forgotten are also appreciated.

Thanks

Dan

CG citrus wash would NOT be a good idea for a weekly soap .. that stuff is made to strip LSP. But they do offer a Citrus Daily wash or try their maxi suds

Folex can be found @ lowes for about $5 for the spray bottle and is a GREAT

spot remover for carpet

also you have some ONR?

I hear it make a good QD

That's what I was hoping to hear. I am looking for something that will strip LSP better then the Dawn Wash I have been using. BUT I am also looking for a Daily wash that I can use in my foam gun. I love my ONR but I can tell from using it, its not going to foam.

Folex huh? I will have to give that a try. I have a Lowes a mile away!

I like ONR for washing but It has similar properties to the QD I am using. I don't mind using it when I am drying my car with a microfiber waffle weave but I don't want to use it as a QD with a QD microfiber towel.

You are half right. CW&G and CW&C are essentially the same, except the &G has glossing agents in it. Both can be used as weekly washes with no damage to your LSP if mixed in the correct ratio. 1/2 oz to a gallon. Both will also strip your LSP if used in the stronger ratio of 2oz per gallon. Most use the CW&G for regular washes because it leaves the glossing agents behind and CW&C to strip LSP, because if you are stripping your LSP to polish or reapply a different LSP, you don't want to take a chance of the glossing agents interfering with your polishes or bonding.

The Chemical Guys Citrus Wash and Clear is one of the safest products you can use to strip off the protection (i.e. sealant, wax) from your paint. When used in the concentrated form (2oz per gallon of water) it is a paintwork cleanser that helps clean and prep your paint so you can get the most out of your detail. This process is essential for best results before beginning a full detail. You can further dilute (.5 ounces per gallon of water) the Citrus Wash and Clear so it will not strip off the protection.

Mix one half ounce of the solution with 1 – 2 gallons of water when you want to wash your vehicle and not strip off the current layer of protection. The citrus formula helps safely separate and lift contaminants, suspending them in the foam solution. Unlike strong solvents and other harsh chemicals the active cleaning agent is a natural citrus extract, which is 100% biodegradable. The formula also has gloss enhancers that help add more shine to the surface after each wash. The Citrus Wash & Gloss solution is perfect for washing in between full details, so you get that just detailed look back. If you want to use it to strip off the current layer of protection mix 2 ounces with one gallon of water.

^^^was waiting for someone to correct me .. i did not know they had two different types

i thought most use CG CWG for srtiping of LSP

You can use either one, but I think most use CW&C. Like I mentioned, you don't want glossing agents left behind if you are going to be polishing or applying a new LSP.

Stop drinking coffee in your car, man! :LOLOL

All that 303 stuff is the same cleaner, just in different concentrations. The Folex works great, I don't know how, but it does. I've also had good luck with coffee stains (not my car!) with the Meg's OTC carpet spotter.

Folex is well worth a trip to Lowe's but i forund it at Safeway in the same aisle as all the other carpet cleaners.

FK 425 is a great QD, I have no problems with streaking or spotting.

Another nod for the folex here. I can't find anything better in the same price range yet. and easily available at Lowes or Home Depot and probably many other locations.

Na Man, it wasn't me with the coffee. Those spots have been there for nearly two years. The previous owner must have spilled some. Impala Carpet is a bit*h to remove anything from.

OK so Folex it is! I'm liking the price and availability. I will pick some up tomorrow.

How about the rest of my list?

I would never want to dampen the enthusiasm of an Autopian on a shopping spree...but having done this a few times myself, sometimes you wake up the morning after saying to yourself "what was I thinking!?". I have enough product to wash/polish/wax etc. the cars I do for the rest of my life...and honestly, most of them are more alike than different...and let's not even get into the MF's/apps/pads/wash media or machines...

I suppose it's better than drinking the money...and if you can sell/trade that does give you an out. Sorry for being a buzz-kill just thought I would give you an alternate perspective in these pre-depression times...

I don't think there's any foam lance on the market that will attach to both PW and a hose. The Gilmour can't handle the pressure of a PW (to my knowledge) and the pressure from a tap isn't enough to cause the venturi effect on a foam lance. If you do find one let me know cuz I'd love to have one that I can switch!

I can't remember what I paid since I had a bonus card but it was the larger size.

That's my understanding as well

Danspeed1- Regarding the foamers, you might ougtha consider what method you plan to use and then buy whatever's best for *that* approach.

Yeah, FK425 is great stuff, pretty much a must-try product IMO. But there's no way I'd use it on your Impala between washes; I'm sure you'd end up marring the paint.

I'd choose between the Zaino and the Leatherique and see how you like one before (also) buying the other (I'm speaking as a guy with too many leather products sitting side-by-side on the shelf).

Good luck on the set-in stains on light gray carpet. I have some stains in the MPV that're simply *NOT* ever gonna come out...hope you have better luck.

Got the Folex today. Have yet to try it. (been busy at work)

The 303 Spot remover "sample" I got actually did remove the one spot on my carpet, but I was just unsure of why they sold both an upholstery cleaner and a spot remover. I just wanted to make sure I got something that would work for the heavier spots.

Why would the FK425 mar my paint. GM clear coat is super hard? I don't intend on using it as a wash, rather a gloss enhancer and "touch-up" product.

I like the Zaino,... it smells really nice, and looks good, but I don't feel like its "working" all that well.

I know someone on here managed to hook their Foam gun up to a power washer.... I am interested in hearing more about this topic.
