Just bought a new car and was looking for some recommendations on a good soap for weekly washing, sponge and drying towles. Just got the car and want to take care of it. Thanks for any help givin

if you want to pick up most all your products in one place then try CG's (highlighted in red)...



soap - gallon of citrus wash & gloss (very economical)

drying towel - absorber waffle weave drying towel

microfiber towels - they have many to choose from


wash media - Lowes GS (proline tile & grout sponge)

IMO the biggest challenge with washing/drying is doing it without marring the paint (much easier said than done).



A good shampoo will have great lubricity and encapsulation qualities, which will help in that regard. AFAIK the best OTC shampoo is DuraGloss, but I prefer the pricey Griot's Car Wash (which I consider the best on the market).



Used with a foamgun and gentle wash media/techniques, a good shampoo oughta get the vehicle clean without leaving you with a lot of swirls/etc.



Get all the dirt off before you dry, and then dry using something that is soft enough that it won't mar the paint (test it on the data side of a CD).



It's that wash *technique* that's the tricky part...
