Looking for new system for Porsche paint (Arctic Silver)

Hi All,

I've been out of the game for a while but recently purchased a used 2010 Porsche Cayman in Arctic Silver. It has a decent amount of swirls in it when viewed under the right light. I did a couple of tests with some of my old, and possibly expired products (Megs DACP, Menz IP) and I did not have good results. (Maybe Arctic Silver has a hard clear coat?). Anyways I am looking for suggestions on a new system to try out since I need to replenish my supplies. The ones I have narrowed it down to are:

Megs 105/205
Optimum Compound II/Polish II
HD Cut/HD Polish
Blackfire SRC Compound/SRC Polish

I will be using a PC XP with the usual array of pads.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Megs MF cutting pads and the m105/205 combo

If its hard you could even go with M101 or Menzerna FG400.
 
We can help better if you tell us the process you currently use/used on your last vehicle..
What speed are you running your PCXP?
What size backing plate and pad/s do you have and have used?

Menzerna makes really great products, and some of their newer ones Menzerna FG400 for example have a really great cut and finish.

I have not had great experience with the older, Optimum compounds you mentioned - but have had very good success with the Optimum Hyper Compound and Hyper Polish products.. Just forget using their sprayers, which kind of make a mess and put out too much product at the wrong place and time...

I do a lot of Porsche, I use fg400 a lot on them, both foam cutting pads and micro pads. You may even be able to get it how you want it after that alone. I usually follow with rupes keramik or carpro reflect.

Stokdgs, my go to system used to be Menz IP on a Yellow pad followed by Menz FP on a white pad, then usually a glaze and Menz FMJ (I dont recall what speeds exactly). I was using the old Porter cable at the time which has since died so I will be picking up the PC XP to use going forward.
 
I have awesome luck with Porsche paint with the black fire duo. In the Orinda where the shop is everyone has a Porsche and we work on them all the time! Not sure what your going to use but I wouldn't suggest something really aggressive. IMO its almost never need on those car as the paint responds really well to something mild.

I got those results using Black fire finishing polish. How ever I was using Rupes21 which is a powerful machine. I think with a PC you could start with an MF cutting pad and something medium of your choice and get pretty much flawless finish on silver, and finishing polish would pick up the light hazing you probably cant see and really make the car pop. I know it's been a while since you used a PC so don't forget to mark your back plate so you can see that it is rotating. I always try to use enough pressure to just keep the pad doing a full rotation about every second with my initial passes, after you see the polish start to dust and turn clear it's fully broken down and you can back off the pressure and make 1 or 2 more cross hatch patterned with very light pressure(much faster rotation). When using finishing polish on foam I like to keep constant pressure through the polishing cycle. Maybe just personal preference. Hope this helps!
 
Agree with Joe.... Lots of Porsches out here and their paint is great to work on, and its on the softer side. Menz IP is outdated severely. D300 and Menz 203 is a solid 80-90% correction on Porsche paint.
