Looking for feedback on less popular sealants

Hi All,

I'm newly registered but have been reading the forums for quite some time. I'm looking for feedback on some of the less popular sealants.



I currently have Blackfire on my car(2x) and really like it, very slick and glossy. It's been through a couple of thunderstorms and a handful of washes, and has retained its slickness and beading ability. I like it a lot, but am interested in Wolfgang and how it compares to BF. From reading numerous threads, it seems to lack in durability but produces a carnauba-esque shine, which is what caught my interest. It seems like there's a higher percentage of WG users than BF users here, however I'm not sure if that correlates to better results or just hype.



From my personal experience(and I've only recently switched to sealants) I've taken a liking to Klasse and Blackfire, both great products. But I'd love to hear more feedback on Wolfgang, Autoglym, and 1Z as they seem to be less prevalent than EX-P, Z5/2Pro, UPP, and AIO/SG among Autopians. Thanks in advance :bigups

I haven't used Blackfire so I can't compare the two, but Wolfgang over AIO works very well and has decent durability (3+ months protection around here, northeast where you are will probably be somewhat less due to enviromental factors) and I like the look a lot. Extremely easy to use. Apply to the whole car, go back and remove. Practically dusts off and it is very slick. Slickness begins to fall off a bit after 4-6 weeks but QD after washing and you will be fine.



Wolfgang's QD and Clearkote's Quikshine seem to look best over Wolfgang.
 
I think one of the reasons why Autoglym is not so popular is purely related to the distribution network in America. I find the Resin Polish and Gloss to be a viable alternative to AIO etc
 
J, I'd also recommend the new Mothers sealants.



If you like the deeper glossy carnauba look, try Reflections duo.



If you like the shiny Klasse/Zaino look, try FX TechWax.



I know they aren't as popular as they deserve to be, but I think you'll kick yourself if you're looking for a *new* sealant that's near the top of the mountain.
 
I tried some BF before, and although I liked the wet look, durability just didn't cut it.



If durability is your main concern, nothing beats Zaino.



If carnauba-like looks is your calling card, then WG, EX, UPP would be my picks.



I also have WG, and it seems to be less durable, per coat, than the aforementioned LSPs. Also, I used the WG wash weekly over it, and was disappointed at the slickness after the first week. It looks very nice, though, especially on dark colors!



I've tried just about every LSP(except Klasse), and I went back to Zaino. I believe that Z2Pro gives an awesome look without sacrificing any durability. Plus, the whole system works so well together.



Use whatever works on YOUR car and fits YOUR needs.

Ive used 1Z Glanz.. Its okay.. easy to work with but I didnt really see any exception durability from it. I had about half a can left that went into the garbage along with 95% of my other detailing stuff. I've pretty much tried them all.. Tropi-Care, PoorBoys, 1Z, Klasse, etc and pretty much concluded that nothing beats Zaino. About the only thing that I kept around is my Collinite 478, which I will probably use in the winter.



Poorboys does have some nice compounds.. SSR 2.5 is great. I used EX and EX-P and they are also good products but I didnt think the durability was as good as Zaino. Just my preference but in my testing, that's what I found.



Basically there are a LOT of good products out there.. durability is better on some than it is others and everyone is going t have their favorites.

I agree. I have only used WG on lighter colors and I don't think it looked as good as other sealants. I know it would look pretty good on dark colors though. I was VERY disappointed with the slickness after only ONE wash with WG. After two washes the slickness almost disappeared. This was on a silver Solara. I much prefer the look of EX-P or a carnauba on it.
 
How about locally available Duragloss? That's one that seems half decent but gets infrequent mention. :nixweiss

I actually have some Z2Pro and Z-PC I'm about to try, so I hope that'll be a good experience. I also have the new JEFFS Workstatt Prime and Acrylic Jett at bay too :drool:

Coming from using P21S and Zymol Japon the past couple of years, all these new sealants are like my new toys and I just want to try them all, so any and all info is greatly appreciated.



Too bad it's 100 out today or I'd have had the Zaino on :wall

I like my Zaino, especially with the upgrades, but Wolfgang is an easy second place for me behind the z. It is a great product that is the easiest to use for me, and leaves the slickest surface of any sealant except Z8 which is a different catagory. I don't think it has the depth of the new Zaino Pro, it really reminds me of the old Z2 in looks dept. I've done a comparision on the same car of Pro and Wolf and I do like Pro better in looks and durabilty, but to me Wolf is easier to use and leaves a slicker surface. Not saying Zaino isn't easy to use, but Wolf wipes on/off easier than water.
 
I used WG on white, the result was a very slightly yellow hue on the car. It's very slick but after you wash it or rains it's not as slick as when you put it on. I'm using UPP right now, I like it.

As soon as the weather cooperates up here(very muggy and humid) I hope to test it out, but I believe Scottwax has already given it a pass with good initial results.
