Looking for advice on wheel products

So I'm restocking my detailing supplies so I can get my families cars looking good while the weather is still good and I've got time. Buying my first polisher (PC 7424 XP with Meg's 105/205 combo) and I'm mostly looking for advice on what to get for wheel and metal polish/wax products since that's something I don't have yet and don't have much experience with. I've got a bunch of different cars to do so I'd like to get products that will work for as many of them as possible. Between them I've got chrome, polished aluminum and plain old alloy wheels, plus some aluminum bumpers on a Dodge Ram I want to polish.

Also, is there any noticeable difference between wheel wax and regular paint wax? Looking for something to deal with the bad brake dust that the Dodge puts out. Heard some people have used Colinite 845 with decent success but I see they now have a metal wax (850) and I'm wondering if its safe for all wheel types and will work well.

Thanks in advance!

Etfren, welcome to Autopia !!!! You will get a lot of options. But here is mine. I have chrome wheels and use a product called ReJex. RejeX Paint Sealant, auto paint sealant, Rejex car wax, Rejex paint protectant, rejects, Rejecx It works great for me. I apply it, then wait 12 hours or so and give them a spray of FK-425 Finish Kare 425 Extra Slick Final Body Shine, finish care quick detailer, ultra slick detail spray Keeps the rims almost dust free. Thats my approach.

Take a look here Chrome polish, aluminum polish, stainless steel polish, metal sealant, Wolfgang metal polishes, Wenol metal polishes, Rolite metal polish, Flitz metal Optimum and Colinite make good products also....

Thanks for the suggestions and the welcome to the site. I've done some reading on here over the last year as I've been getting into detailing, finally decided to sign up. That Rejex sealant looks like what I'm looking for for wheels and would probably be a good idea for the Dodge since it is a DD (Well, they all are) and gets some heavy use.

AutoGeek is where I'm putting in my order actually, so thanks for linking me to products there. :)

For OTC, I really like the Mothers line of wheel polishes. Easy to use and great results. I don't have enough experience with boutique wheel stuff to say except that I do like Optimum metal polish. For sealing, just use any durable paint sealant. The real hard part with wheels is getting pads/cones that are cheap and work well.

Be careful on plastic coated rims. A good APC then a sealant is fine. You don't want to compromise the coating on your rims.

I also use a sealant of convenience on the wheels. Those with solvent cleaners are the best. And you don't have to pay a lot for wheel protection. I avoid marketing-derived products like 'wheel wax'.

I've used Poxy on the last few sets of wheels I did and liked the results. However on my own DD I have the armor all wheel protectant on the inner drum of the wheel and have been using Poxy on the wheel face for the shine. FK1000P is also a popular sealant people use for wheels because of it's durability. Ideally I would OC2.0 those wheels for ultimate durability though.

Hey guys, thanks for all the suggestions. Just placed my order, decided to go with the Colinite 845 and also got a free sample of the Wolfgang sealant I'll be trying out as well. Pick up some Meg's APC+ for cleaning wheels (and other stuff) so I should be good to go for a while.

The Meg. APC+ will remove Colinite 845 any any wax or sealant. So don't use it to wash the rims after aplication. Use a regular car soap and then a shot of a QD or Spray wax.
