Looking for a Laptop

I have no doubt you can accomplish your objective. It all comes down to the processor and the amount of RAM you choose. If you're willing to settle for a little less speed on the processor you can get many of the other bells and whistles without the price going through the roof. Look for a step or two below the top of the line fastest chip. Don't settle for less than a Gig of memory, many come with 512 and you can get by with it but extra memory is something that just about every application loves. AMD chips seam to be slightly less expensive than Intel chips right now and in the long run most don't know which they're running anyway. I have recently purchased both a Dell and Toshiba laptop both similarly configured and roughly in the same price range. I have zero complaints with either machine (the keyboard went bad on the Dell but they sent me a new one quickly and without problem under warranty) but I believe I like the Toshiba a little better. The extra software that came with the Toshiba was a ton better than Dell's but most of that stuff can be downloaded free anyway. The Toshiba is a little bigger and slightly less portable than the Dell, both have 15 inch screens. I know that this probably gives you no real advantage having read this but I believe you wouldn't go wrong with either of these two manufacturers.

I love my Alienwaren laptop!! It is three years old and have had no problems whatso ever. It has done everything that I have asked of it. I know that this is not a budget minded type computer but it is nice to know that the video card can be upgraded when necessary. I purchased mine because I did not ever want to be limited as to what my computer could do. Even though it cost alot initially there has been no need to upgrade in three years.

I bought my first laptop a couple of months ago. Bought a Toshiba A105-4074 from Comp USA. It was $100 but had $150 instant rebate plus $200 mail in. Not a bad deal at all. Use it almost every day and I am really liking it. Will probably upgrade the ram (only has 512mb) but so far it hasn't bogged down even when running multiple apps. From everything I read, Toshiba makes good laptops. So far, I am a happy customer.

I am still looking for a laptop too. I want something CHEAP and I mean cheap. I just need one for word documents, internet, and to take with me when I travel.

Make sure to get a Notebook with warranty with a reputable company. Otherwise I'm tired and sick of my Dell, just feels too cheap and bleh.

Toshiba, Dell and Hp are the better ones to get. Look for deals and sales and dont skimp on getting what you need as well as may need in the future. You can find some killer deals at the following forum, fatwallet.com and look under hot deals. Some are going for as low as $399.

I think I have finally found one........$499.00 after rebates..........What do you guys think??
