Looking for a cleaner to disolve wax on trim that will not stain the trim

Im looking for something that I can spray on trim and basically any outside rubber or plastic to help dissolve stained on wax. I used Megs APC a while ago and it ruined the trim. I tried highly diluted Castrol Super Degreaser and that also stained trim.



I thought about trying Megs Safety Degreaser but as I understand it they are taking it off the market and what ever is left thats it. I dont want to get a product I like and then not be able to get it again.



Your suggestions?
 
Meg's #39. But it is always a good idea to do a test spot to make sure you aren't staining the trim. I'm surprised the APC "ruined" your trim. I have used a lot of APC on everything from rubber to leather to plastic without any ill effects. What was your dilution ratio?
 
Take a tooth brush (someone elses) dip it in mineral spirts and scrub the area with dried wax. Test for staining first. I've never stained any black trim with this but just for good measure.

Ive used it 1:1 all the way to 30:1 and it still stained a vehicle I had one guy that had a brand new 2004 Ford Escape that he wanted me to replace all the trim on. Taht was not a fun one to work.

Anyways as to your question, I'm curious myself. I'd assume a AIO would do the trick?

Yeah but I need something I can spray in places like around door handles and all that stuff to disolve wax. Ok I cant type straight Im going to bed.
 
I've actually found PB Trim Restorer to work out the stains. Not a spray-on walk-away product, as you still have to work the stain out, but it works.
 
I have some Megs #39 coming today, I will let you know how it works.



IME, AIO or VM don't work on getting the stains out.



I have used IPA and it worked well on fresh stains, however it didn't do anything for the stains that are a few years old.
 
Are you sure that the APC actually stained the trim, or did it clean all the dressing off of that particular area and make it look different than the rest of the trim?
 
mothers Protectant seems to work good for me. has anyone elese tried this. I once used turtle wax ice to remove wax residue on plastic molding that my friend got on his car. it seemed to get rid of it.
 
Wax Blaster was a waste of money for me. It did not seem to do anything. I think it is meant for freshly stained trim. Vinegar works for some stains but I also recommend the Trimonex GR-40.



I had a Nissan Titan whose owner thought that using TW on the front windshield cowling was a good idea until the next day when it was completely caked. It was very textured plastic too. I tried wax blaster, Tarminator, vinegar, #0000 steel wool, ZAIO and the wax was still emebbed in the groves. I ordered some GR-40 and used an old soft toothbrush and it got rid of it and the last time I talked to the owner the wax has not re-emerged.

I am 100% positive, it was a brand new vehicle.
