These are my new 2002 Maxima SE 17" alloys: :cool

As expected, they weren't clean at all. With the distribution of the dirt, it looks like he ran the car through the car wash before he took off these wheels. They're clean now though! :)

I was worried about WHY he was selling them, but the boxes he shipped them in were from MB Motoring, so he must have gotten new wheels, which prompted him to sell these ones. He lives in Texas, so I guess he doesn't have much of a need for winter rims.

Here's the shots right after I opened the boxes...

In the email to the seller before he shipped the wheels, I requested that he include plenty of packing material to protect the wheels during shipment. Here's what I got in one of the boxes... A HAIR NET? That's it for the whole box! :down

The wheels have been washed with an NXT soap solution twice the normal strength. Tonight, I'll be using P21S Wheel Cleaner to get the remaining brake dust off, and then 3M PI III MG by hand, then AIO. We'll see how much time is left after that, but after the AIO, they will be getting WG sealant x5.

heh heh, you were so excited you couldn't even wait to take them inside. :) cool. they don't look too scratched up except for a couple of curb rashes.

Yeah I didn't bother to take them inside, because I washed them within minutes of taking the pictures! :)

That one curb rash isn't so bad.

That one curb rash isn't so bad. For $350, a small defect is nothing to be mad about.

spoken like a true Autopian! :D

and the scratches don't look too bad, something you might be able to fix, or at least make less noticeable, no?

PS - you gotta change your signature now. :)

congrats! Whats up with that hairnet? lol I think you and I would be the type of people to ship those with a weeks worth of newspaper in the boxes. Have fun with your new stuff!!!

nice! gotta love ebay. I just bought a Porter Cable rotary with 2 almost new pads, backing plate and 2 almost full bottles of Megs. for $160 can. total. My old Makita is now resting.

Nice wheels! Where are the after picture? :D

Gotta love eBay! I got my set of rims off eBay with tires for $325 shipped a while ago and they were practically brand new.

:xyxthumbs Hey Paul!

Great news that you got the wheels. They look pretty good, I'm sure they'll look amazing after you finish cleaning, polishing and protecting them. Are you still going to but on the BF Goodrich's that you talked about?

Can't wait to see them on your car,

Paul

I will see what I can do with making the defects less noticeable.

Sig has been changed. :p

You'll have to wait a few days for the after pics. I'll be putting on 5 coats of WG sealant, which I'll let cure for 24hrs each.

So sometime next week I'll post after pics. So far I've got two wheels cleaned with P21S and clayed. I'm taking a little break for a few minutes. :)

I completely forgot to ask...

What kind of tire are you going to mount to those puppies??

Tires will be BFGoodrich G-Force Sports (Ultra High Performance Summer) 225/45Z/17. TireRack has them for $98 each.

I'm sure you'll get the tires before I get new ones so let me know what you think of them. The G-Force Sports were recommended to me over Pirelli PZero Neros by a local tire vendor (perhaps because they do not stock the PZero Nero). Surprising considering the G-Force is $30-40 cheaper per tire than the PZero Nero.

The Pirelli P Zero Nero is a Maximum Performance tire. The P Zero Nero M+S is an all season performance tire.

It will be a while before I get tires. I need to do a couple details to get the money for tires, mounting, balancing, and I should probably get an alignment done when I install the new wheels/tires too.

All 4 wheels have been cleaned with P21S and clayed now. They are dry and awaiting the AIO and 1st coat of WG. :)

Congrats, Maxy. Looks like just that one has the curb rash; hopefully it won't be too noticeable after you polish and get the tires mounted. Jr. asked me to tell you she likes the wheels.

The 2002 Sentra SpecV wheels (17x7) are 24.0lbs. I would assume that the 2002 Maxima wheels (17x7) are similar in weight.

My current wheels (15x6.5) are 16.5lbs.

So the new wheels are heavier, but the tire's aspect ratio goes from a 60 series to a 45 series. So I will save a good chunk of weight from losing some of that heavy rubber.
