Longitudinal Zaino test... need input

New Normal
hello everyone,

am about to do a detail on my vehicle. have been taking very good care of my 03 silverado since i purchased it but i beleive that i have gone over board as far as keeping it clean and shiny. consequently i have created a lot of swirls from to much wiping down with detail sprays. this detail is also going to be a longitudinal study in protection. this vehicle will have little or no care for about six months. my wife will run it thru an occasional car wash. will not be using any detail sprays or an additional topper for the entire time that i am gone to alaska for work. it also will be out side every day during the test. we have a garage but it does not fit into the garage even if we had room.

have chosen to use Zaino z2pro as my sealant along with a collection of menzerna products (IP, FP) and Klasse AIO. i have in my arsenal another zaino product called z-1. am not sure if this is being redundant by applying this after AIO or not but before Z-2 pro.

will apply products with pc7424 and appropriate pads from lake country. Zaino products will be applied by hand with mutiple coats. most likely three different coats with Z-6 in between each coat.

so i am going to list my process in the order that i plan on doing the detail. am looking for any addtions or corrections before starting this detail to test for longevity and durability.

#1. wash using one of these... meg's deep cystal, menzerna body shampoo, or pinnacle body work shampoo. is dawn really necessary? with good quality wool mitt.

#2. clay using blackfire clay, using a detail spray as a lubricant. i have adam's detail spray, meg's last touch, pinnacle crystal mist, and four star detailer. i could also mix up a shampoo concentration for the clay.

#3.wash with wool mitt. using waffel weave mf towel to dry.

#4. menzeran ip, using pc with lake country yellow pad. wipe off with a high quality mf towel

#5. menzerna fp II, using pc with lake country white pad. wipe of with high quality mf towel

#6. klasse AIO, using pc with lake country white pad and high quality mf towel

#7. zaino z-1by hand with mf apllicator

#8. zaino z-2 pro with zfx by hand with mf applicator. wipe off with high quality mf towel

#9. zaino z-6 in between coats. wipe down with high quality mf towel.

#10. repeat steps 8 and 9 for each coat x3

will document each step with pictures and my opinions of the results. am excited about this test. any suggestions as to my process and what to look for would be most appreciated.

According to the Zaino site, they say if you are using the ZFX flash additive, that you don't need to use the Z1. This could save you a step in your procedure.

Looks good. I will be using the same process as soon as weather permits. The only thing Im not going to do is use Klasse in the process. I just feel that I want a squeeky clean surface for Zaino to bond to and the Menzerna's will give me that. Not that I don't like Klasse, I do, but Klasse will leave behind a layer of protection and I don't want to put Zaino over it for bonding purposes

Only one.
If it were me, I would contact Zaino directly to get their recommendations.
It sounds like your vehicle is not going to get much TLC for those six months and following the Zaino instructions completely would probably give you the best results.

:kneel I wouldnt run MY car through a tunnel carwash for anything. Are you also testing the durability/thickness of your clear coat? IMO, the common road damage is enough. Nice torture test formulation though. With the Menzerna IP and FP combo, I am sure you will succeed in removal of the swirls and other defects. I have a 12 Y/O daily driver that IP and FP rescued completely. Actually you are doing what most of the motoring public does without knowing there are... neglecting and ruining the finish on their cars...

I think you can skip the AIO, it adds nothing, IMO, after the Menzerna. If you were going right from clay to Zaino, I would say yes, as you need something to smooth and deep clean the finish pre-Zaino. Also, I would skip the wash after the clay, but definitely wash after polishing to remove all the residues. I often wash after polishing with QEW if i'm feeling a bit lazy, but it works well for that purpose.

Nor would I. I said that my wife was going to do it. I am in Alaska and my truck is in texas. Since my wife has no idea what a true detail is I guess that i must let her do as she see's fit. Not much else i can do. That is why i chose Zaino to see if the sealant holds up as well as its puported reputation.

Since leaving texas for alaska my wife has driven it about four hundred miles to get the daughter from college and return her home for the summer. all the while it has been outside 24/7. will be back in October and am hoping for the best.

Was off line for a month and have been working a nite shift here in fairbanks so i did not see this post until boss responded to acw's comments.

thanks for all the responses. Will report in October.
