Long write with a lot of cars: F40/Scuderia/Corvette/360/430/Porsches, etc

Amazing write up and details. This is rather refreshing for the forum readers. Keep up the hard work and try not to raise the bar too high on us!

Whew! Thanks for reading!

Reading?! My goodness! If a picture is worth a thousand word, I just read the entire collection of Shakespeare!!! Fantastic on many levels.

Glad to see you back again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nobody's got anything on you, your work is stellar. in the words of robert de niro in the motion pic "analyze this", you, your good you, you got a gift".:goodjob

I was impressed that you were able to go from M105 to PO85rd. I would have assumed that would be too big of a jump in cut. I would have figured SIP would need to be used in between. Seemed to work out for you though, good job.

Were you hitting the slopes in Canada? You have to let us know when you're in Canada next. We'll get together and first round is on me.

Cheers!,

Thanks Nick! I may be back in Canada twice in April, once to Toronto and once elsewhere. I'll let you know as it would be an honor to meet you!

Thank you RCobbins! I think the bar is pretty high as it is, I don't think I can even approach it at this point. There are so many people doing such great work!

Great Job and pictures to match Todd! Nice to see you able to post here again! :goodjob

Thanks! Some of the pics are a little 'jagged' because I used a batch process to resize some of them (I got lazy towards the end) and selected a lower quality size. Opps. It's nice to be back!

I don't know blucpe, I don't think anybody has anything on your gorgeous Corvette. Blue+Corvette=perfect in my eyes!

I agree Bert. I learned (kinda) a little trick from Kevin that seems to work very well for getting M105 to finish down better with a PC (of course pad/paint dependant).

When applying M105 with a PC you should get a pretty stellar finish provided the pad isn't overly aggressive. Likely not LSP ready but pretty good. As paint is polished off the surface it contaminates the polish causing the abrasives to stick or clump. These clumped abrasives can begin to scour the paint surface as they are more abrasive and less even.

One thing Kevin recommended I do is after I polish a section, don't wipe off the residue, but instead clean the pad (using compressed air or a pad brush) thoroughly then repolish the section using speed 3-4 and about half as much pressure. Work fairly quickly making about two passes over the area, then wipe away the residue.

By clearing away the contaminated paint and reducing speed you can usually refine the surface to the point of being near LSP ready, needing just a light final polish for maximum gloss.

Thank you for the compliments!

That's a deal Todd. I'll see you when I see you. Just give me a heads up when you swing by.

Cheers,

Nick

[Insert usual :bow regarding TH0001's work...]

TH0001- Glad to have you posting again, love the detailed descriptions of what you did on each car.

Nice that you and David Fermani got to work together, that'd make for quite a team!

Also nice to see that somebody besides yours truly appreciates SRP :D How did you like their wax on that particular paint? Did its look lean towards depth or was it on the, uhm..."bright/reflective" side?

And...I thought I was the only person still doing that rotary-then-RO thing when polishing. Works well with certain products, huh?

Is it just my imagination, or are you using the rotary a bit more these days?

Lots of Qs, but then I haven't checked out your work in a while ;)
