Long throw technique help

Been playing with a new 21mm polisher and having some trouble even on flat surfaces. Pad feels grabby kinda hopish only if I pull up on the machine can I get a good rotation. This is with new pads and without priming. 3 or 4 drops to get going. A spritz of onr spray gets it moving but it isnt a solution imo.

Im using Adapt with a hybrid orange and blue hydo. I primed the pads and they spun much better, the blue splattered a bit. 6" pads.

I switched to a 5" MF pad and jeesh, the pad spins for days and days.

Any tips?

i dab my product out onto the area im working in, spread it out on low speed (normally 2) then bump it up to correcting speed

Maybe its jsut the case of not priming the pad? I can never keep up with do we prime or dont we.

You ever run into a situation where the pad hops and gums up while its trying to remove the wax thats on there?

Try a different polish/compound. I had one car where Adapt with a foam pad acted similar to that. Usually Adapt is great, especially with MF pad, but something about that combo on that particular car didn't want to work well for me.

i agree with rasky, i would change up pad and see how it reacts.

i hardly have any trouble with my g21 unless im dipping into a curve but thats expected of any long throw

Only issue I've had with the long throw is with long throw designed pads- Ruoes UHS system and HD orbitals. They feel rock hard and tend to bounce a bit until I get into a rhythm and some heat softens the pad a bit. Other than that, it's been smooth sailing. Like others said, try a different combo and see how it does.

I used a MF with adapt and it spun like a top. I washed the pads even though they were new, ill give it a go tomorrow.

How much correction do yall get with a MF and Adapt? Enough to remove auto car wash marring?

Ive only done Adapt and a mf correcting pad once and it worked like a dream, was on a 94 Mercedes. Removed a lot more than just auto wash marring. Excellent combo.

I think I figured out the issue. Look at the curve of these pads.

I never did use an "old" foam pad to test with, I went right to MF.

I dont know, its like 30 out, ill see if i can make it to the garage later today. I would imagine the curve was responsible to some degree as I had never had a grabby pad kinda skipping before in my 8 years of polishing my vehicles.
