Location Re-run

The Rainmaker
Seems like I do this fairly often, but we have several new members and it is relevant again.

This is part of a thread I posted in March of 2004
Still applies today.

Peoples location
While it's a small thing, it would really be nice if everyone would put their true location in their profile.
I'm pretty sure it would then show up in the left box of a post and we could know where it is you are trying to find something.

I am of the same verb as you,Charles. I feel it is part of the forum. I always wondered why the need to be ...what appears to be... less than forth coming.

I can understand some folks not wanting to tell where they are; especially if they happen to have any particularly expensive/tempting items (equipment, vehicles, etc) it wouldn't be out of the question for someone to track down a member's home and cause them grief.

However, I also agree that it would be nice if people could at least give a ballpark region/area where they are located. Not only would it make it easier to suggest places to find things, but also potentially help link members up for meets and whatnot.

Personally, I don't have a problem with telling folks basically where I'm located -- I figure if nothing else it could lead to bringing me business.

Add another believer of listing location.
It helps in the recomendation of product, what local pricing is or regulations might be, or maybe even the worst, find out that you might be able to get together with another member and make a new friend...Sorry could help myself on the last statement.

A general area is plenty if people don't feel like giving out much information.
Like Michigan as opposed to Arizona. England to Florida.
Or even Alaska to Texas. (Private joke there.)

O.K., O.K. I did it for you Charles. The federal witness protection program won't be happy with me, but as long as this makes you feel better.:yay

I think that it helps especially when given advice to understand the type of weather they might have
