so my friend is going to lend me his PC7336 to use, but the problem is he doesnt have a backing plate or pads :furious: im going to use it on 2 cars and dont want to spend to much considering im going to have pads just laying around iwht no buffer heh.. so i was wondering what pads/backing plate you guys suggest i get if im going to be using SSR2.5, SSR1, Nattys Paste Wax? (1 car has light swirls/few light scratches.. and other has heavy swirls/few light scratches) also would it be good to buy Optimum compound with those above products? to remove scratches maybe?... and one last question am i missing any step between this?

Wash>Clay>SSR2.5>SSR1>Nattys

Can't you sell the backing plate and pads to your friend when you're done? If he's going to have the PC, he's going to need them. I don't think you are missing anything from your steps; I guess if you are on a budget perhaps the Optimum polish or compound could replace the 2 SSR's. You can get the SSR's or the Optimum from www.exceldetail.com and I would get one orange or yellow pad and and one or 2 green, depending on how many polishes you buy (if you go with the SSR's get 3 pads total, if you go with one of the Optimums, you should only need 2), and a 5" backing plate.

whats difference in orange and yellow pad? also what are tehy used for? (polishing?)

and what are the green pads used for? (wax?)

also if i were to give up the SSR line for Optimum Compound, should i get Optimum Polish? does it make a difference?

Excels' pads - Orange - heavy swirls or scratches , yellow - lighter swirls , green - very light scratches . Blue is to clean up marring and whatever left from the yellow or green pad with a machine glaze or final polish .

If you're using a PC go with the optimum compound . Finish up with Vanilla Moose Glaze or Poorboy's professional Polish and the Black finishing pad ..

will anything happen if i use a Orange pad on a car that doesnt have to much heavy swirls? any harm...

Using a more aggressive pad than necessary won't do anything beneficial but will probably require a follow up with the milder pad that you should've used in the first place ;)
