Little Imperfections!!!!!!

As we drive our cars, little things happen, almost on a daily basis, that cause little imperfections in the paint, interior, glass, etc.

I HATE THAT!!!!!

But unless our cars are enshrined in a glass vault, it's unavoidable. You can't enjoy your car if you're not driving it!

The worst little imperfections, in my opinion are DINGS!

Try as we may, that old klunker is going to find a way to get next to you.

Here's what I do to try to avoid those little mis-haps.....

1. Park where other people won't park.

2. Never park where attention will be drawn to your car (if you're leaving it unattended)...

3. Never park your car over 2 parking spaces. (draws attention to it)

4. Never park your car at Wal-Mart or any Grocery store.

5. Drive the "beater" to the store, if you're lucky enough to have one.

6. Use a "hood-bra" for any hi-way travel. A great help for rocks and bugs.

7. Never park under a tree or overhead lines (Tree sap and the dreaded Bird-Bombs!)

8. Obviously, avoid salt and snow as much as possible. If you can't avoid it, WASH IT OFF QUICK!!!

And remember. There are some people who will see your bueatiful car and say in their "Jerry-Springer-Voice"......

I'LL SHOW HIM !!!

And then proceed to snag a green one on your windshield, and then swagger away, proud of his accomplishment.

Keep the faith guys. Just blowin' off steam.

It's Zaino time!

ejant...

Good point about parking "high" in the parking lot! (carts.....)

Is your car a Bonneville? (if it's not a Bonnie, I hope your not insulted by my question.)

That pic rocks! I love Bonnie's!

More pics I can drool over?

I saw the mother of all shopping cart "dings" the other day. I was in the Lowes parking lot on the phone the wind was killer , I saw a guy load up his BMW and carefully place the cart away from his and other car. About the time it leaves a big gust of wind caught the cart , it pushed it out into the outer ends of the lot. Where cautiously parked is a brand new SL 500 Brabus , the cart slamned the door so hard it shattered the window. I didn't have the heart to let the guy come out to find it so I waited in my truck then pulled over when he came out , boy he was not happy. I suggested that we both go into Lowes and see what they said. Suprise they agreed to pay for the damage. They don't have a cart holder in the lot so it is kinda their fault. All said and done approx. $6000.00 damage to the car it actually took out the door , window and quater panel. When it's done I get to detail it.:D

So I guess your tires don't come apart either.:D

I saw a roll-away cart at Costco the other day. I was driving down the parking lot when a cart starts to slide from the "cart return", I slammed on my brakes and watched it roll within 2 inches in front of me and hit a brand new LS430. So sad. Needless to say, after I saw that, I parked all the way in the back of the lot where there were no cart returns.

I also try to avoid parking lots where they stick advertisements on my windshield. I had a bad experinece once where they left an ad hanging at the top of my hood, scratching it.

Another trick I've found is to park near cars that are almost perfect. Most of them understand what it's like to have a nice car. Don't park too close to them or they'll probably do something to your car because they're just as anal as you are. Vans with sliding doors are also good, but then most of them carry around little kids that hop out and touch your car.

I do that exact same thing!! I figure if someone is that good to their own car, they will be carefull around other's cars. I also avoid parking next to those big land yachts with the HUGE doors and beaters too.

Yup, don't park next to the beaters. One of the times that I parked the car way off in "left field", it was 'cause the only half decent spot was next to a really rusty car. My hubby said, "Don't park next to that thing, it looks contagious." ;)

What's been getting me lately are the people who don't bother to clear *any* of the snow from their cars before getting onto the highway. At those speeds, the newly-liberated bits tend to take chunks out of paint and glass, especially once they've thawed and refrozen a few times :(

But... 8-10 weeks until my new car gets here... :bounce

:D :D :D

and THEN the fun begins!

my biggest peeve is door-dings. You'll see a $30,000 dollar car that looks like it's been machine gunned. So I park as far away as I can. The funny thing is my girlfriend who will spend an hour on a treadmill in the gym will complain about walking the extra hundred yards.

An extra bonus is that when I walk to my vehicle, all alone in the wildnerness area of the lot, I get to admire it for a few extra moments.
