Little 1Z Pearls vs ONR experiment.

I have an almost full bottle of Perlz sitting on my shelf. I used it once and I didn't like it. This is probably due to being used to the good smelling, high sudsing of DG901 and Meg's Gold Class that I often use. Maybe I have to give this a try.

I still have about a half gallon of ONR too. hmmm, i think my wife's car could use a wash in the morning.

I actually mix the two in a few gallons of water when I wash my cars, been doing it for a few months now. The suds are muted that way but its pretty slick and the results are great.

Grouse,

Are you not rinsing the 1z off? just wipe and dry like ONR?

Do you see any residue on the car after you do this?

No I am not rinsing it off, I am using it as you would ONR for a car wash. I've done one moderately dirty car and one filthy muddy Land rover discovery that is used as a farm rig. I sprayed neither of them off. Only on the disco did I inflict marring and only in one area.

I actually tried this Sunday morning on my Z06.

I used it exactly as I would use ONR, and put 3-4 capfulls in a 4 gallon bucket. Used 2 Cobra Bone microfiber sponges with frequent rinsing to wash the car, and Super Plush Gold towels to dry. I used the product in direct sunlight, but the temps were in the low 70s so the car did not get that hot.

From what I could tell, the finish on the car looked pretty damn good. Very glossy, and slick, although it did feel like there may have been a slight residue afterward as the slickness was not "uniform". I had a fresh coat of Collinite 476S on the car.

Since the car is silver, I could not notice any streaks, and like I said it looked VERY glossy. However, I did notice some minor streaking on my tinted windows.

I will probably give this another shot, using it indoors this time and out of the sun. If I find the same results, I will most likely just stick to ONR / DP Four-In-One.

I'd mix a nice balanced liquid using the Perls shampoo and Lackfinish detail spray. The latter is a drying aid in the first place, and you'll need a component which helps to break the water film and "washes" away surfactants.

I'd try 0.5 oz each to one gallon of water.

I agree that the 1Z Perls makes the car noticeably glossier than an ONR wash. Theoretically, the same polymers can be found in the LF spray, but that product is nothing to write home about gloss-wise...

Bence,

Good point. Next wash, I'll try Perls with some LF mixed in and see what results I come up with. Hell, maybe I'll mix Perls / LF / ONR.
