Little 1Z Pearls vs ONR experiment.

So I was talking to Micheal at 1z USA. I was inquiring about 1z and a rinseless wash. After a discussion about the foundation for one, and why i like the idea we started talking about Pearls. Pearls seams to share some similarities to ONR, both are on the slightly acidic 6.5-7 side of the wash spectrum. Both are highly lubricating, both impart a level of protection to the vehicle. both are low sudsing

So I said, what the heck, I will try the ONR process with Pearls. So i tried it on a car. I mixed up 8 capfuls of pearls to 4 gallons of water. (in hind site this is to much, 4 capfulls would be plenty.) Added that mix to my trigger sprayer. I proceeded to wash the vehicle just like I would with ONR. I completed 1/2 the car.

I then washed the other half with ONR at the normal onr wash dilution. Same process, about the same amount of time, with new mitt.

Pearls gave A significantly brighter shine, more liquid gloss level. It also cut through the wheel brake dust much easier than ONR. It did not streak my windows just like onr. the difference in appearance was so significant I felt it was necessary to wash the ONR half with Pearls to even out the look. Pearls is not a cheap product, and not a cheap one to make. It's costs per use are about the same as ONR. I will do a few more test to see the viability of Using pearls as a rinseless wash. My initial impression are very favorable. The difference in look might be significant enough for me to change if everything else is similar to ONR, and if 1z Will carry it in bulk. 5l/10l sizes. Something they have not done as of now, due to it's costs. Roughly 90-1.10 per use.

My 2 cents in a world of 20 dollar bills.

Very interesting...I will try this soon myself and see if I get similar results. I did notice that Perls suds about the same as ONR (ie, nothing) and left an amazing finish when I used it conventionally.

Interesting, might have to give that a try

I use Perls exclusively on my NBP TL-S. It is an outstanding product for keeping a nice finish looking that way. Highly recommended!

Now it looks like I've got to try using it in a different manner as well. Thanks for the tip!

I like 1z Perls but have only used it in the traditional mananer. I liked 1z since the car seemed easier to dry than some traditional soaps. ONR does not seem to clean tires or wheels that well for but no issues with streaking. on glass. It does leave a nice shine. Thanks for the information. I may have to try it this winter.

1z Pearls appears to be more shiny after washing because it has some waxes on it.

I never thought about this product for rinceless/waterless wash. Good point! :bow

Keep us posted.

So what's your normal ONR wash process? Do you spray it on like a QD then wipe off?

Are you using a rinse bucket?

If you do a search under my name you will find my process.

I had another opportunity today. It was sheeting rain in redmond, the LR3 I was detailing had the battery go out. So I washed it via Pearls rinseless wash process.

I started with the drivers front window and upper roof rails. Worked my way around the back till i made it up the passenger side of the car.

After the roof and upper windows were complete I washed the hood, upper doors to the belt line all the way around. Form there I did all the exterior plastics. I emptied the bucket and refilled. Washed the from the belt line to the bottom, I then washed the tires, engine bay, wheels in side and out.

It worked very well, the vehicle is the farm rig for orcas Island. It spent the spring and summer slumping around in grass and mud just like any good farm tool would.

There was a bit of induce marring, but as i said it was caked thick in dirt, The polishing took that right out.

I used 4 capfuls of pearls to 5 gallons of water, same water was used in my trigger sprayer to pre-soak the panels. The same was done for the wheels. This is what impressed me the most, the weeks cleaned up extremely easily for not using a wheel cleaner.

I still have the 1st generation of Perls which had a squeeze measuring cap at the top of the bottle, so you squeeze until the upper part is full and dump that into a gallon of water. Great working wash!

I've not seen or used the newer version of Perls, but if it's like the one I have, it's a winner.

I was out of Z7 and went with Perls. Damn the finish look great and seemed very smoothe and slippery. Not sure how well it reacts with Zaino or other sealants, but it's a damn good wash soap. Maybe I'll try it in a foam gun one day.

Just can't go wrong with German engineered products that's for sure!
