List your fav. Meguiars Products here

Having worked for Meguiar's for a period of 3 year's..I have nothing to say but great thing's about my former employer. Everyone was very professional and helpfull. Our "system" way of thinking not only ensure's quality result's but superior result's. If you have the patience and tenacity in detailing vehicle's where your customer's only want the absolute best finish possible. I would say the Meguiar's Line of surface care product's, and their system's of paint correction are the best in the industry. My good friend who is detailer for Ferrari in Georgia, swear's on the BSP line of Meg's product's i.e. M-84, M-83, M-82, M-81, D-51, ..I use these product's exclusively because I am also a firm believer in a system approach. However, I also believe in the notion find a product that work's good for you and keep using it..However, I do believe in the end a "system" of car care product's in the end would serve you best.

Wow.

I didn't know there were such strong feelings.

I never noticed a Meg's product being pushed by Mike, except for maybe he got excited about Lab Sample D, and Mike didn't post that here; he posted it over at his forum, Show Car Garage, and I posted the link here. What I have seen are helpful, thoughtful replies to people with questions about Meg's products.

I didn't think much good about Meg's products until I started using them. Even now I have some that work for me better than others, and for polishes I am absolutely sold on the Menzernas; but I would bet that there is a Meg's polish that does the same thing as IP, and one that does the same thing as FP. But I know how to get results from I&FP.

My opinion of and experience with the product line doesn't invalidate anyone elses', let alone those here whose talent and experience far outstrip my own. Knocking Meguiar's based on your experience is entirely fair, and goes toward building the "body of knowledge" that we all draw from. After all, a gallon of #81 will last me as long as I live, whereas a body shop might use one gallon a week. Wth do I know?

But geez. Piling on a fellow autopian because he happens to work for the company and knows how to use the products is a little bit rough, I think. By my observance, the sum of Mike's purpose here can be described as, "If you want to use Meguiar's products, I'll help you use them correctly."

And if occasionally he wants to show and be proud of his work, well, don't we all?

I dunno. Just because this is a place where excellent boutique products get their due doesn't mean that excellent mass-marketed products can't get their due, too. The car doesn't know what was used on it. In the end, the car either shines or it doesn't.

Like many here I have tried multiple brands and systems. Started using Meguiars originally then Mothers, and then on to AutoMagic. Yet each time for finishes in rough shape I always go back to Meguiars for abrasives. They always react the the same way and this way I'll know how the end product will look and that's a good thing. Now I'm back to using Meguairs and a little Blackfire here and there. I also look for Mike Phillips name in posts since he is very knowledgable and doesn't force this knowledge or opinion on anyone that I've seen.:)

Well, I tend to stay away from their products...

Mostly because of the arrogant attitude of the marketing staff. They are *always* sure that their product is appropriate in any situation... this was true most recently at 'both' SEMA booths. Don't ya think most of Mike Phillips' posts fit that category/?

Jim

I'm not sure I've ever met a marketing guy (myself included) that isn't a bit arrogant about their product. They have to be. If you don't believe in your product, you don't have a product.

Have you ever talked with Sal about Zaino products (sorry, buddy, I couldn't resist!)? Talk about a guy with complete confidence.... or is it arrogance?

I think companies are best judged by the merit of their actions, not the marketing hype. The fact that Meguiar's employs a guy like Mike, whose full-time job is education, says something about the company.

My list of favorites:

Final Detail

Engine Kote

Clear Plastic Detailer

UniGrit Finishing Papers

#38 Dressing

#16 Paste Wax

#83/82 combo

Self-Saturating Swabs

Meguiar's Quick detail spray. I love the stuff! But I guess for more $$ the "Final Inspection" may be better. My car is a daily driver so it's silly to spend too much $$ I think on detailing. I just do enough to keep my paint smooth and clean. And for a car that is driven all the time, it is quite a challenge!
