Liquid Lustre wax

Here is ressurecting an old thread.

I used Liquid Lustre to remove some terrible road tar that got on my SUV after they repaved my neighborhood and then it rained the next day! I had to get to work and the car sat in the "elements" for almost a week until I had a weekend to clean it off. At first, I thought I could do a simple wash off at my local spray and wash. When that didn't remove it. I found an old bottle of Liquid Lustre, shook it up hand applied panel by panel and it was gone and left a shine that was decent. It lasted a few months. Oh yeah, the smell got me high with a headache.

Sometimes you have to use what works but that sounds as if it has pretty strong solvents. Newer formulas should be less harsh since the VOC laws went into effect-I doubt it would clean as well now.

Does anyone recommend Liquid Lustre? Is there a product that is the same, but works better? I know, I know, Stupid Question.

I have it and have used it before. It works very well and looks great..But it doesnt last long at all.. Its almost like it washes off with water

Does it remove any of the Clearcoat?

Honestly I don't know if anyone can answer that without knowing what type of solvents and/ or abrasives it contains. Maybe someone can check a bottle and see if it's clear coat safe.

Yes its clear coat safe i have used it a while back on my car and my wifes car.

it does a decent job it was on my wifes car for about 2 months and still beaded decently...

the newer version is supposed to be better yet..

i used it on my gp and had no swirls on it for the time i used it the a friend of mine washed it through a drive up car wash and used a brush on it then i got the dang swirls havent had time to see if it will take them out...

I dont have a PC either so its all done by hand...

I still want to see somebody try the demo of lighter fluid burning on the hood . any takers out there :)

Heat rises. The hood doesn't get any hotter than it would sitting in the sun on a summer day.
