Liquid glass

Anyone have an opinion on Liquid glass? My friend uses it and loves it. I'm trying to find a cheaper product to use until I get called back to work and can get Zaino again.

I've been using it for about a month on my 1996 Corvette and I love it. Easy on - easy off. I've got about 5 coats on it.......Lucky

I always found Liquid Glass to be difficult to use. It was hard to remove but maybe I was using it wrong. I use Klasse now and it seems to be much easier.

Guy, don't forget to clay your glass before any polish. Me, I'm sold on Zaino's glass polish followed by Z2 for my window glass. Haven't had occasion to try Liquid Glass yet.

Liquid Glass is a pretty good one step polish/paint sealant. Unfortunately, it really cannot be layered because it contains micro cleaning agents...i.e. abrasives so putting on extra coats really does nothing but maybe fill in any missed areas.

Mmmmm... Maybe LG changed their formula? I still have some around (used it on the fridge, water heater and the like) but when I tried it on the old (read previous) vehicle, it was a real BEAR to get off. Never tried it a second time, on an automobile. :nixweiss

Will admit it was pre-Autopia and I may have neglected the car finish prep. But I tried other stuff on the old sun-dried Marquis and had no problem wiping down the haze.:)

Why don't you borrow some LG from your friend and try it out? :) Since it's a runny sealant, 1-2 ounces should easily be enough to cover your whole car. It doesn't take much....

Often "cheap" and really long lasting products don't come easy together though. Keep in mind that often a product that seems to cost a lot at first can last a pretty long time until you finish it.

I still have some LG. Use it on my wheels. I have layered it. Whether or not it offered more protection, I don't know. The can says the more coats the more protection though.

Try the new Prestone wax. For around 5 bucks you can get a real good product. Not sure about durability though as I wax very frequently. I mixed some with water and use as a spray wax/detailer. Leaves a super slick finish and nice gloss.

Irecall a few years back Consumer Reports rated Prestone wax as tops among some consumer-level waxes they tested. At the time it came with a nice sponge hand applicatror

What would you guys suggest using? I need something cheaper right now that lasts. Thanks!

You could try Mother's Reflections. It should be more durable than carnauba, but not as durable as Zaino.

I think that was the "bullet wax" I haven't tried the new stuff though.

I've been using Liquid Glass for a long time, especially on black cars, with great results. Some years back, they reforumulated to make it easier to polish off. Very easy now. Very, very high gloss that builds with more coats. You can apply to any non porous surface including glass, chrome and wheels for brake dust.

If you get it on porous trim, I use a water spray or Mother's Showtime and elbow grease. The only drawback is getting some of the haze powder brushed or wiped out of creases. A light water spray and hand wipe after it cures really brings out the gloss even more.

This stuff is similar to Zaino in composition but easier to get (although not cheap). It likes to go on in warm weather, or even direct sun. You can buff almost right away but it needs about 2 to 4 hours betwen coats except in hot weather like Houston.

It's doing a good job on my wheels, All I need is a terry cloth or an old Kozak cloth and the dust wipes off

This is a question and and answer from the "LIQUID GLASS" Website:

Q. If I use Liquid Glass Polish/Finish, will I need to apply a wax over it?

A. No. A wax product will not add luster or improve protection. For additional luster and protection simply apply additional coats of Liquid Glass Polish/Finish. The more coats applied, the deeper and richer the gloss. The protection will also improve. For example, many coats have been known to increase the resistance to stone chips.
