Lincoln LS?? Opinions Please!

i test drove one a while back that had the v8 in it. Aside from the good power it had it seems a little heavy as slow as it accelerates and had a pretty hard time slowing down. It seems like it wouldnt be very responsive as a family car.

My dad looked at a V6 LS a little while ago.

My bro went with him for the test drive. When I asked how it was, he compared it to my old Sunfire (non-GT base model) with a ton of bricks in the trunk.

Ouch.

I always thought they were smart looking cars, but I have a real disdain for Amercian vehicles.

I recently brokered a sale for a customer of mine. He wanted on LS and after a lot of calling and dealing I got him a spectacular deal. My customer had some specific requests including... V8, low mileages, late model, Very clean! This is what I found out. If your going to put down money on a LS, buy on 03 or newer. There was some suspention and shifting adjustments for 04, but the 03 is a good buy. Another thing, get the V8. It is smooth and quick. Gets pretty good mileage too. Also try to get the sport premium package so your guaranteed the air conditioned seats(real nice). I findly found the deal I wanted at Jack Safro Lincoln mercury in Wisconsin. The car was an 03 with only 6,200 miles on it. Loaded up, CLEAN. Original sticker on it was 40k, got it for 25k!! awesome car!

When I bought my last new car the LS V* sport was on the top of the list. Very nice and comfortable car, great luxury features and it looked sweet in black on black. But in the end the performance of the Lightning won me over. The LS is a great car to cover long commutes in, or take clients out in. But it isnt a performance car in the same vein as a BMW is. I work with a few guys who drive LS's and they love 'em though.

I actually own a 2001 ls8 sport and here are the pros and cons. First off don't waste your money on a 2000, they are the one's with the majority of the problems. These cars handle like a dream. Comparison tests show that they actually handle better than the BMW 5 series. The ride is not harsh either which is a plus. Steering feels a little numb at times but only at the limits. It most definately could use more power, and in reference to that you should go for an 03+. Interior fit and finish are suprisingly good quality, however the faux wood trim throws it a little bit. Sound system is amazing as is interior room. The trunk is adequate but there is little cargo space in the cabin. If you like to modify cars, there is very little to look for in that aspect. The computer still needs to be cracked. There are rumors of a supercharger comming out within a few months however. Overall this is a very classy car with a little bit of sportiness to go with it. You definately would not be disappointed.

P.S. Common problems are leaking valve seal gaskets, window regulators (2000 model year), and failing coil packs (once again earlier model years). Otherwise this car is a problem free car. Hope this helps a little.

One of my bi-monthly regulars has this 2002 LS V8...

This car has 78K on the odo  and I can honsestly say that it feels just as tight as a new car. All the interior materials look brand spanking new...even the leather seats. The paint has held up well considering the amount of highway driving the owner does. I'd say it has about a dozen or so small rock chips on the hood, front bumper and mirrors.

For the money...I'd say they are great cars!!
