Lighted Wire Christmas Tree?

I'm trying (with zero success :o ) to find a specific type of prelit Christmas tree; I'll try to describe it:

White wire branches (real "bent coathangers" effect!), *no* needles, just branches with white-wire lights attached to them.

The idea is that the lights from the back side shine through without anything like needles/etc. being in the way to obscure them. Displayed in windows, they look great from the street.

We have two of these that we use in the livingroom windows, but they're starting to have issues and we could use a few more anyhow. But I can't find them anywhere :nixweiss

Anybody have a source for such a tree? All I can find are spiral-type trees (no thanks) and conventional prelit trees with needles/etc.

I know what you are talking about. I have kept my eyes open. No luck. If I do see something, I will reply ASAP.

BTW, do you know anything about Case Western University? My girlfriend's daughter (good kid) has landed a job in the Biology department there. She can work, and also work towards her Masters in Biology. It seems like a good thing for her.

Again, I will keep my eyes open. I'll probably make a short "road trip" this weekend to shop (ugh!), so we will see what Happy Valley has to offer.

Hey, Moe!- Thanks, any leads would be appreciated.

Sorry, don't know anything about Case :nixweiss That does sound like a nice situation for your girlfriend's daughter.

Nope, but thanks for trying!

The diff is that instead of thick branches (like the tinsel-covered ones on that tree), it has *nothing* but thin wires sprouting out of the center "trunk", and lots of them. Each of the main wire branches has a lot of little branches sprouting off it. Those thin wires have strings of lights zip-tied to them (it has lots of lights too).

Looks like a wire sculpture of a tree that's dropped its leaves, with the light strings tied on.

Heh heh, I sure never thought it'd be so hard to find these things! We got our old ones at the local Walgreen's drug store and I simply can't find 'em *anywhere*. Lots of Reindeer and other sculptures in the same vein, but no trees :nixweiss

My parents have one. It looks like the tree on just glowing from the road. Not sure if they still use it. I can check and if they dont use it I will contact you. It about 5-6' tall correct?

Try calling Kraynak's in Hermitage, PA.

I haven't been there in a few, but they are one of those places that have tons on Christmas stuff all year long.

Yeah, that sounds like it. Wonder where they got theirs...and if they're still available.

Thanks, I'll check them out.

DevilsOwn- Nope, sorry, but thanks anyhow. I do have three fiberoptic trees, and the two big ones were bought as potential replacements for the trees in question. They don't work out as well because of the way the fiber optic strands have such a limited effective viewing angle. I ended up putting those two behind some glassblock windows in another room, and the are OK for that application.

Hey, Moe!- Well, thanks anyway!

Who woulda thunk this would be so tough?!? I've asked a few people who had 'em in their yards (complete strangers who probably thought I was a nut) and they got theirs at the same place/time we bought our two. I can't believe they only made one year's production run of 'em....

Being a tennis nut, I can speak for "stuff" being hard to find.

I have "duck feet," and so, I look for certain shoes to wear that fit well, and cushion well.

Every time I find one, it gets discontinued, and I have to go back to sqare one. I try to find some of the "oldies," with mixed success.

Same thing with racquets.

Here today, gone tomorrow. Who woulda thunk?

Anyway, Merry Christmas, and a big thanks for all of your input into this forum!

PS-I promise to post pics of the Bimmer in the spring. My local mechanic generously tucked it away for me until March 1, or the first decent day afterwards, by which time my kids will have me up to speed on this kind of stuff.

Hey, Moe!- I hear you on footwear; I take a "B" width and require a certain fit in the heel.

Glad the BMW is safely stashed away for the winter.

countrychick201- Welcome to Autopia, and THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! That's one very appreciated first post :wavey

I think this is what you are looking for. Click on the link below and scroll almost to the bottom of the page It will be labeled "WHITE CHRISTMAS TREE" under other alternatives. I have two of these for our front yard, and you can change the "flash" pattern on them. This year, though, I was also having issues with the flash pattern box. It just kind of did it's own thing, and sometimes they flash, sometimes they stay steady, sometimes only the white lights would come on and sometimes only the colored lights would come on....totally wierd.

Thanks, but nah..that's not what I'm after. The ones countrychick201 linked were exactly what I was after, though two came through unusable and another one died after a few weeks....sorta a bummer having to buy them in bulk, the ones I had previously were just a *little* different but they lasted for years before developing issues.

But I know what you mean about the flasher/color going wacky; I have two fiber-optic trees that I can imagine doing something like that (gee, can you tell I have a lot of different Christmas trees around here?!?).
