light swrils and marks

The big "PC technique" thing is to move it slowly, especially with something like OP that has a long working time. If I were in your shoes I'd get something more aggressive and use it with an orange pad (probablya 4" one). I'd use the aggressive product on the 4" pad to eliminate the marring and then follow up with the OP on a larger (~6.5") pad.

I used to always just recommend 3M PI-III RC 05933 but that's getting hard to find. Now I'd probably lean towards Hi-Temp Heavy Cut (see TOL ). I'm using their Extreme Cut but I think the Heavy Cut will be a lot more PC-friendly. Don't worry about it being as aggressive as the TOL ad copy says ;)

Yea reek, my clear is so soft I can get out a lot of swirls with just a finishing pad, so this seems odd. I whish I was there to help. It would help if you get some pics :)

All the polishes I use work best when you work them until they're almost dry but not quite. I never "dry buff", I wipe 'em off while they're still a *little* wet.

...my [Subaru] clear is so soft I can get out a lot of swirls with just a finishing pad..

That's funny...maybe there *is* something to the idea that Subaru clear can vary depending on which basecoat color you have :nixweiss The clear on my silver one sure wasn't *that* soft.

On my black honda, I can see the marks in bright sunlight and I've noticed them at night when the car was in a parking lot with the lights on. It all depends on the angle you are viewing the car from.

You see the swirls because the light reflecting off of them catches your eye. On a dark car, the light refracting off of the edge of the swirl is a big contrast when compared to the dark paint. That is why you can see it in sunlight.

For silver or other light color cars, you don't see it in full sunlight because the light refraction isn't enough to overcome the brighter colors. Only at night when you have a "pinpoint" light source will you see them.

I have a silver Odyssey and a dark green Accord and experience the exact same issue. At night, the Accord looks great. During the day the Ody looks great.
