Lets talk about aluminum diamond plate

I treated my Mustang leather seats with Leatherique. The rejuvenator oil is ...well...oily! It glops on and I used a terry applicator to spread it out. I left it on overnight and most of it was absorbed, but there was still a film of oily stuff. I whipped out the Pristine Clean and went over it with a terry shop cloth. It definitely does clean the leather! It took a couple of passes to get the film off, and even then I noticed that the seats were slightly tacky and my pants didn't slide on the leather.

It has now been several days since using Leatherique. The leather is now extremely soft and that tackiness is completely gone. I don't think it did anything for the wrinkle lines, but they are perhaps less noticeable due to the cleaning action of the Pristine Clean. I don't notice any change in smell, but the leather is now buttery soft!

I will have to give Zaino Leather in a Bottle a try next to compare the results... But for now, other than a slightly messy application procedure, I give Leatherique a :xyxthumbs

Hehe - you beat me to it.... I was just going to post a review.

I first tried Leatherique awhile back and used it on my new car - and wasn't that impressed. Mostly because Leatherique really shines when it comes to older, dirtier leather.

I just used it on my wife's Accord - and the results were OUTSTANDING! First, you apply the Rejuvenator Oil - trick here is to get the leather as hot as possible (I left the heat on, and parked the car in the sun). Work it in by hand, then wait. I left it for about 3 hours, and found the filthiest seats you've ever seen!

As per instructions, I applied the Prestine Clean - and it worked like a charm! When I was done - those Accord seats were as good as new (except for that cheap cracked Honda leather - lousy %*!!%).

The best side effect - the car smells like leather. It's not quite the new car smell, but it'll do :) I certainly give this product a thumbs up as well.:up

I agree:up

I have used Leatherique on our 93 740il (145k miles) and the 94 540 (118k miles) I left it on all day when it was kind of warm out. The leather in both cars is still very soft and clean.

I have 10K miles on the vette and I'll try it on that next.

Lets talk about aluminum diamond plate.

What have you used, what did you like. I'm always looking for something to make my life easier when it comes to making this stuff look good. Think firetruck, miles of diamond plate.

I've tried just about every OTC product out there but haven't been too happy with most of them. They polish well, but are too hard to remove from the diamond pattern. My current favorites are the the green and blue liquids from Heavy Metal, I think they're a Glyptone product now. Also I've had great luck with a product called Deep Alume as a final step. Works well and comes off fairly easy.
I recently tried P21S polishing soap and that is nice and easy but I think it's too aggressive for the aluminum, it definitely has a more cloudy appearance than the other products. It would probably make a good first step that needs to be finished off with a finer polish. It is however great on chrome and stainless.

I have both a rotary and a RO machine so I'm looking into using them to my advantage this year. I have done it mostly by hand in the past. I'm thinking I can spread the polish thinner with the machine and that would make it easier to remove the residue.

I've been looking at the Blackfire metal products and pads. I just haven't given them a shot yet.

So that's my story. What have you used? I'm open to suggestions on both pads and products to try out.

Im curious as well with the diamond plate . I have a horse trailer I detail every now and then and the diamond plate is getting severly oxidized . In the past Ive been able to use blue magic with terry cloths by hand , but your right the plate is hard to get into the grooves without tearing everything up.

I ordered a wool pad from PAC ( blackfire metal polishing pad) and will try that on a rotary , but its going to be a real nasty black spitting mess Im not looking foward to ! :D

I have a diamond plate toolbox on my trailer, which looked awesome when it was installed brand new. Three years later, it still looks good except that oxidation has dulled it. I am also interested in knowing how to get a clean look.

I would definitely recommend the Blackfire Metal Polish system (pads and polishes).

You will be able to get a very very high shine from the metal (think mirror like) but keep in mind that the clean up (as with all diamond plate) it going to take the longest.

DC, are you asking about the Blackfire Heavy Cut Aluminum Compound? If it is then the weight is 16oz and also the Fine Cut also.
