LED fluorescent tubes

I'll be opening a shop soon and the current fixtures are traditional fluorescent tubes, not sure if the are T8, 10 or 12, but im on a tight budget and want to know if the LED tubes would.offer significant improvement?

I like LEDs and direct lighting. Even lights with more than one LED tend to fill scratches and swirls. In my experience, a dark garage working with just one or two lights lets me see more defects than where there are lots of lights and light colored walls. The difference is the same as between a bright clear sunny day and a cloudy day - direct light shows flaws, indirect light fills them.

I wear an LED headlamp and lately have an LED light laying on the floor shining up at the side of the car while I work.

So, I would use the lighting you have now for washing, doing the interior, etc. then turn those lights off and put on your headlamp and use a side light, maybe put some additional LED track lighting above where you're working. Halogen work lights are good too but they get too hot for my taste. That's likely cheaper than replacing what you have.
