Leather falling off of panel.

Hey everyone.

The leather on my Acura Integra's door panel is slowly coming off and I'm wondering what should I do to put it back on.

I think this is due to age and possibly some shine from the sun. No one has touched the panel.

I don't really know which product to use. Something like glue sounds messy.

Here are some pictures:

Thanks.

The covering is most likely vinyl rather than leather which has nothing to do with your problem/question. :)

The material and the panel appear to be in very good shape and I think it would go to an upholstery shop if it belonged to me.
You can very possibly do a decent job of repair, but you could also end up making it a real mess.
A good upholstery shop will probably be able to make it like new.

I agree with Charles ...if you can't afford a repair shop, then get a can of 3m adhesive for trim and vinyl, they sell it at auto parts stores and sometimes even at Walmart ... just be careful when spraying as it could get messy;)

Have you tried seeing if the material will tuck into the adjacent plastic panel? If there is enough material and if it will tuck under tight, you can skip the glue or just add a tack line along the edge. But much cleaner and less risky of mess if it will go up tight without glue. To try it, take a skinny enough screwdriver or pallet knife single or double wrapped by a cloth, pull taut, and carefully wedge it in. I've been successful a few times that way.

Good idea. A plastic scraper/spatula might be worth trying for the tool to use. It wouldn't be likely to damage the vinyl you are trying to push into the crack nor would it be likely to damage the surrounding plastic panel.

Yeah, I've tried it. Falls back out within a day or two.

Still need to pick up a can of those spray adhesives.

just remember to cover or tape off everything around it as it can get messy and sticky :inspector:
