I should have played the lottery last night...I had three "close calls" during the day!
Close call #1: the wife and I drove up to a friend's house in New Hampshire to see their new Golden retreiver puppy. On the way home on the highway a "little yellow schoolbus" tried to get into my lane as I was passing the bus! The skills I learned at an emergency response/defensive driving course came in handy!
Close call #2: due to a "clerical error" I had to go to City Hall and have my paycheck re-issued. As i was crossing the street, some yahoo pulled out of his parking space, peeling rubber and he almost hit me! I would not look good as a hood ornament on a Pontiac Firebird!
Close call #3: while on my way to work at the firehouse, I made a right hand turn onto Maple Street( I had the right of way). Some ditzy lady jabbering away on a cell phone blew through the stop sign on the opposite side of the intersection , made a turn into my lane on Maple Street and came within inches of colliding with me! Once again, the skills I learned in the course mentioned in close call 31 saved my bacon!
