layering gold class and #26

so as i was reading another forum i came across a post by a guy that was getting his car ready for a small car show. he said that he washed, clayed, then layered gold class x3. first of all, would extra applications of gold class remove previous layers? I know it has cleaners like nxt, but nxt is layerable, is this product also? second of all, i know that gold classes main downfall is a lack of durability. would it be possible to add a layer of #26 on top of the gold class to "seal" it in so it could last longer? the reason im asking is because this car show he said is in about a week and ive heard that GC can go away that fast. I'm trying to help him save his wax job until then (his car is going to be outside during that week, uncovered). if anyone can help me out, id appreciate it.

Actually both products are bad choices for durability.

I would rather go with NXT Tech Wax or M21 as a sealant and topped with #16 or 845IW as LSP

What color is your friend's car? #26 looks awesome on dark colors, especially red or black. Durability is also excellent for a carnauba. The new GC supposedly is more durable, but I haven't tested that claim yet, so I don't know. I know the folks at the Meguiar's website advocate two layers to ensure even coverage. A third coat is considered a waste. Also, going by a test by Guru Reports, #26 will actually look better after a week! :up

Even though GC has cleaners in it, I still find it to be a great topper because it adds depth and warmth. It seems like I've layered just about every possible combo of #16, #26, GC and NXT and I've never had durability issues, but then again I wax often, as most people here.

the gold class appears to fade because the polishing oils in it evaporate-Mothers Reflections Top Coat or #26 would be better choices
