Latex over-spray

What are some options for removing white latex over-spray on black GM C.C. paint? The specs are very small and widely scattered. I have some meg's 80-83 and a PCDA. My first thoughts are to use a clay bar, but was looking for some other options in case the clay would not remove it.

My wife's aunts were up visiting her mom a couple of years ago and somehow got road paint on one of their newer cars. I was getting ready to load up my supplies and head over there when they told me they got it all off with WD-40.



I'd be more inclined to use clay after a wash, but others have also reported success with WD-40.
 
Hey!! Good ol WD-40. That's an excellent idea. I was thinking de-natured alcohol but I had no idea what that would do to the paint.



Do you think the WD-40 would melt a clay bar?

I'd be surprised if it didn't, but you can try a small piece and see. I think the WD-40 might work well by itself, especially if it is latex based paint. I would do a good wash and apply a wax or sealant afterwards.



Good luck and report back on how it went.
 
I did try to use my fingernail on the specs, but they didn't want to pop off very well. A few did and a few didn't.



The car has never been paint detailed before that I know of--lucky me.



Where could I purchase plastic razor blades locally? I don't have the time for an Internet purchase. Hopefully I won't need them, but just in case.
 
I've used de-natured alcohol before and the latex paint came right off like butter.

You can also try some 3M adhesive remover, both will work great.

Thanks Josh. Now I trust you know the story owning a Vette. While I like the WD-40 idea, I don't like to think of the oily mess. I want to get the latex off with the least amount of enerchia and move on to the rest of the detailing process. De-natured alcohol it is.
