Latest detailsâ„¢ v. First use of Collinite 845 + a 1984 Cadillac Biarritz

Very nice, especially the F250! Those things are a killer to clean up!

They sell Collinite 845 Insulator wax at the local Marine supply store. What makes it different/better from brand x?

Nice work Scott as usual.

I think the white is single stage. You can check them on paintscratch.com.

awesome work as always.. love the toyota truck finish.. out in the Texan heat eh ? did you wash and compound and everything else right out in the sunlight ? if so how did you ensure no water spotting ? wash and dry quickly ? i'm interested to know thanks

yah, honda's are very bad for paint in general.. even when or if they put a clear coat on, it's of extreme poor quality

I think one step is sweet...you dont have to worry about burning through clearcoat! But it is very odd that honda has so many colors with one step on it....Maybe a money saver? idk.

they don't, look in my autopia gallery for pics of cleared white honda/acura paint. My family alone has owned probably 10 hondas and acuras since 91 and they are all cleared.

I hate to go off topic by asking another question about clearcoat, but if a car without clearcoat gets parts of it repainted with clearcoat then would the difference show in a few years? Thanks.

Durability. From personal overservation, their #870 Fleetwood (cleaner wax) beaded very well for at least 4 month, appearance held up and slickness was still evident. To be quite honest, the appearance of 845 is a bonus. You tend to think of heavy duty waxes as utilitarian, not as beauty products. Not so here. Very wet, glossy look. Not as deep as some carnaubas but still decent.

tumbler-QEW for the win. :) No spotting problems when using QEW in the sun, but you do have to wash smaller areas at a time. I work in the sun more often than I would like and Clearkote and Poorboy's products are lifesavers.

accordmaniac-yes, definitely the difference is noticable, especially if the finish is neglected. Look around, I am sure you will see a red car in the near future with a real shiny fender/hood or combination and the rest of the car will be pink.

I've worked on an old red Miata that was that way. When it was freshly detailed, and all the oxidation was gone from the single-stage panels, the car looked pretty decent. Before the detail, though, it's pretty obvious (as Scottwax mentioned) . . . some panels faded red and dull, while the BC/CC panels were still bright red and relatively shiny.
