Latest detailsâ„¢ v. Collinte on my car, all out Jeep detail, working in the sun-again

How did I miss this thread? Your car looks excellent, I say that because I've seen you describe it's paint condition as poor.

In the shade it looks perfect, in the direct sun you can still see a few areas that need work or are beyond help due to very little exterior care before I bought the car. Most of the stuff now, you only see at certain angles, some are only visible under certain lighting. It still looks better than probably 95% of the cars on road and better than 99% of other 6-year-old cars. It just isn't where I want it yet and short of a repaint, some of the problems can't be removed, only made less noticable. When I first got the car, the paint was beyond poor.

This is the first time I detailed it. I had already polished the rear fender but not the door. The whole car looked like the door when I got my hands on it. Looked grey in the sun, not black.

Here it is a year or so and several polishing sessions later in as close to the same lighting as I could get...in fact, you can see the sun pinpoints in the same spots in the seam between the body and the rear edge of the door!

If I shot from another angle, it might pick up some of the minor remaing problems.

Inspiring as usual - the relections on the Jeep are amazingly deep. What made you choose 1Z? Previous experience on that colour or just experimenting?

Wow that before pic of your car is horrifying. I thought my car was bad when I got it but that is just nasty. It was only 3-4 years old when you bought it too, huh? Well, at least it has an owner who pampers it now. :)

Another round of exceptional Scott details!!!! :bow

I have to admit that it was your posts that got me turned on to VM almost two years ago. To this day it remains one of the favorite products I have in my arsenal. It is very much (at least I use it as such) like Klasse AIO in that it does a little bit of everything from polishing to sealing. The trade off being is that it is easier to use than AIO but does not last nearly as long. Like those shots of the three cars in the parking lot I love the fact that you can polish with it in direct sun on a warm surface and yet it still stays wet and allows the pad and machine to do a lot of the grunt work.

1Z Glanz Wax is amazing on metallics and the green on that Jeep has a ton of flake in it. GW really excels on tan and gold metallics, just something about it and those colors that is just jaw dropping.

Mike-I have to agree about Vanilla Moose. When I got that first unlabled bottle from Everett Glass to test, I really didn't know what I had in my hands. He just sent it along with a note saying "You can use it on practically anything, play around with it a bit and let me know what you think." :)

I was just amazed at how versitile it turned out to be. Still one of my favorite detailing products.

Do you have any tips for the VM as a one step? Whats your favorite topper for VM if you use it as a glaze?

I had the same questions. Also, why would you want to wipe out the oils, isnt VM meant to be more of a cleaner/glaze than to remove swirls..so theoretically you have already removed any swirls in an earlier step or there werent any to remove....

Pics look great..I dont know if I could manage that many cars in one 100 degree day...

I just use it the same way as if I was topping it. Work it into the paint with the speed on 5, bump it up to 6 to correct.

I mostly use CMW over VM if the paint is dark, EX-P if the paint is light.

I grew up in Phoenix so the 'heat' really isn't an issue. Besides, after working all day, I headed to the park and skated the back trail (12 mile round trip) in about 55 minutes. Not too bad for someone who turned 44 in June, eh? ;)

How is the collinite stuff?

I want long winter protection what would you suggest.

Great details too.

Very easy to use, nice liquid shine. I've only had it for a few weeks so I can't really comment on durability from a personal perspective but others rave about how long it lasts.

What would you guys say is the most durable collinite wax??

I was gonna try the klasse twins and then collinite?

Sorry for OT'ing

nice work! i got similar results using VM on my neighbor's black lexus, it's amazing how it can remove/fill some swirls. :woot:
