Latest detailsâ„¢ v.belated Christmas gift

We draw names at Christmas between us kids, as in my parent's kids and our spouses or significant others. My sister's fiance drew my name and said what he really wanted was for me to polish and wax his Audi S4. He decided to wait until after winter then between his schedule and mine, we could just never arrange it until today.

Really nice car, lowered, some engine mods (don't know, so don't ask but it is pretty quick) and in pretty decent shape, moderate spider swirls and some scratches. Knowing how hard Audi paint is, I started off with Detailer's Pride Super Swirl Remover and a burgandy Meguiars cutting pad. As has been my previous experience with SSE, it is pretty aggressive but also dusts a lot. If it didn't finish down so nicely even with a burgandy pad, I probably wouldn't use it because of the dusting. However, the performance is good enough that I can put up with the dusting.

I then polished it again with the DP Final Finishing Polish using a yellow Meguiars polishing pad. Definitely added some noticable depth and wetness. I then finished off with PB's EX w/carnauba (the new version), AA-ed the tires and fenderwells and cleaned the glass in and out with 20/20.

Excellent work as usual. How long did it take you?

Just under 3 hours to QEW wash, deep polish, glaze, wax, clean the glass and dress the tires and fenderwells. Not having to deep polish it would have saved me about an hour of time. Not much choice with how hard the paint is though.

What a nice gift to have a Jedi master of detailing work their magic on one's vehicle. It looks very wet with lots of depth.

Great looking car, great detail and great pictures. I'm going to take my next pics from the exact same angles. Scott, does he have chrome or stainless mirror guards on the side mirrors?

Nice car and great pics.

It looks like you're using a digi cam instead of your normal 35mm.

:D Good eye! Yeah, I did take pics with my camera too, but I also used my brother's Cannon Rebel so my future brother-in-law could have a few pics quickly. I'll probably just post one or two I took with my camera when I finish this roll.

pdsterns-they appeared to be stainless but had some pitting from fast driving.

Peter-yes, he has aftermarket brakes on the car. I wasn't really paying enough attention to them to remember the brand.

He also went all out on the stereo, amp and speakers and it is real loud but not very balanced. He seems to like it but I don't think the sound is very clean. :nixweiss

He must be a bass head if to you the sound isn't very clean. I mean lots of $$$ = great separates so that may not be the issue.

Do you know what the stereo consist of?

I think the amp said Hifonics on it but I just glanced at it. He chose all the components and did the installation including building the box for the sub. He doesn't have it equalized right.

My stereo isn't nearly as loud but it sounds a lot cleaner (factory Bose with a Pioneer DEH-P6400 HU). Clean, tight bass, crystal clear highs, proper midrange equalization, etc. Amazing how good Bose can sound with a decent HU.

quapsnaman, I know we are Autopians but how can you tell these are "digital pics"? What specific detail clued you in. I was going to post that they were not digital because I know Scott does not own one.
