2005 Toyota Corolla. Pretty new car, such minimal spider swirling the owner opted for just a coat of wax. Applied Collinite 845 Insulator Wax by hand.

2003 Cadillac Escalade. Last waxed in November with PwC and CMW. It was actually still beading but slickness was slight. I used to QEW wash it twice a month until the owner bought an F-150this past spring and gave the Escalade to his wife. Now I might QEW wash it every couple months, tunnel washes the rest of the time.

Paint still looked pretty good, didn't need any deep polising so I used Clearkote's Vanilla Moose with a Meguiars polishing pad and topped with 845 by hand.

1998 Mercedes CL500. Been taking care of this one since he bought it in early 1999 with less than 4000 miles on it. Just past 106,000 now! He took some debris to the hood and had some bad chipping in the bumper and fenders so he had the front end repainted. The shop did a nice job on the actual painting, not so good on buffing.

After Optimum Compound using a Meguiars cutting pad. Started off with the speed on 5 to spread the product around, then bumped it up to 6 for several slow passes. Had to go over the middle of the hood twice. This after shot (and the one of the fender) are after OC and the burgandy pad ONLY. Very impressive finish for a pretty aggressive combo!

Yeah, I know the sun isn't in the same exact spots but the whole hood was pretty swirled and I just didn't have time today to move cars all around for perfect shots. Just one of those days.

A closer after shot of the hood:

I went over the whole front end with OC and the Megs cutting pad, then Optimum Polish with a Meguiars polishing pad over the whole car and then Optimum Car Wax x 2. Full sun shots, I have nothing to hide! :)

awsome job scott! im really trying to delay my IW order till spring....but man you make my credit car finger itch... :bigups

They all look so good, but I have a question or two. First up, I've been wondering why you always use QEW. Is it because it's better than products like PW Slick n Suds, etc, or is it simply because the rinse free nature of the product makes it more convenient for a pro detailer? Second, I notice you often apply OCW x 2 - does the second coat not interfere with the first when it is applied in such a short space of time? Just thinking about some paste waxes that recommend 24 hours before layering - P21S for example. Finally, and on a less academic note, is the rear wiper on the Escalade not sitting in the wrong place - i.e. on the trunk rather than on the window?!

Richard-I use QEW because it is a lot faster than traditional washing and it eliminates the need for me to use their water or carry a water tank and pressure sprayer with me. In addition, no problems with water dripping out of body seams two hours after washing.

My understanding from Anthony Orosco (who has been using OCW a lot longer than me) and Dave, the owner of Optimum is that you can apply two layers at a time. OCW will also layer since it doesn't contain silicone oils (according to Dave).

The wiper is where it is supposed to be. You can see it is the same way on this Suburban:

...and on this Escalade:

Hey Scott, those vehicles look killer. I'm really liking the OC as well. I just did a Jag 2.5 X-type with OC (will post tomorrow) with a LC orange pad and man I tell you, you really don't need to finish with OP(but of course I did). This stuff is great and no dusting :grinno: . I think it is between ssr 2.5 and ssr 3 for agressiveness.

Thanks for the info Scott. I see what you mean about the wiper - just looked weird to me, but there again I'm not used to seeing these types of vehicles!

Very nice Scott! At this rate, you'll be on #20,000 in no time :)

Have you tried difference pad combo's with OC, or have you pretty much landed on the meg's cutting pad?

I didn't have any fresh Propel pads when I first got Optimum but I plan on ordering some to see how they work too.

Just noticed this thread. They really hacked at that MB. Kind of amazing the re-paint was good considering their buff job. :O

Nice work. I'm still getting used to how good OC is at removing swirls/holograms/scratches. When I bought it I thought it would be less aggressive than ssr2.5 but with its longer working time it takes out just about anything i ask it to. Of course, you know that. :D

It is actually pretty typical. Lots of shops can lay down paint well and wet sand it properly but for some reason, they can't buff it right. :nixweiss

I agree, the long working time of Optimum is a huge advantage.

Great work Scott!

I love the color of that first car, very vibrant :xyxthumbs

I agree, that red stripe does an injustice to the MB..it throws off the lines of the car, you should of buffed it off the car :LOLOL

Yeah but he's done that to every Mercedes he's owned. Not sure why. :nixweiss
