1995 Chevy S-10. For some reason, this is the second mid 90s S-10 I've done with less than 30,000 actual miles on it that has sat in a field for a few years. Paint had a ton of scratches, swirls and the clearcoat was severely hazed. Interior wasn't too bad, just really dusty. My younger son QEW-ed and clayed the exterior, my older boy cleaned the interior and I did the polishing. I figured if anything would put the Detailer's Pride samples I had to the test, this would be it.
I started with the Super Swirl Eliminator and a Meguiars burgandy cutting pad. The fender is polished, the door is not. I had to use flash because I was doing this at the Pilgram's Pride plant and this was the only real out of the way place. At least we had shade.
BTW, the instructions for SSE say not to exceed 4500 rpm but it worked fine for me on 6. Seems to work a long time before drying and dusting a bit. Dusts about the same as DACP but seems more aggressive. Finishes down pretty nicely.
I then used Detailer's Pride Final Finishing Polish with a Meguiars polishing pad. Very nice product as well, definitely made the paint look noticably wetter. My older boy then waxed it by hand with the new version of Poorboy's EX w/carnauba.
Got a few nice late afternoon sun shots. The owner was stunned at how it turned out and frankly my kids and I were as well. When we looked it over yesterday, I didn't imagine paint that rough would turn out so well. My kids are normally pretty blasse about the cars we do because they are usually in pretty good shape to begin with but they looked pretty pleased with their effort today.
==============
My son's 1997 Chevy Cavalier. I had polished it out last summer with #80 when his Grandmother still owned it. Paint looked pretty decent for an 8 year old Cavalier but it was garaged until she bought a Corolla this past fall. Only has 67,900 miles on it, should serve him well in college.
Anyway, I polished it with Poorboy's SSR2 using a yellow Propel Cutting pad, Klasse AIO with a Meguiars polishing pad, then finished it out with NXT Paste with a blue Propel finishing pad then topped it with Natty's Blue a couple days later.
