1995 Chevy S-10. For some reason, this is the second mid 90s S-10 I've done with less than 30,000 actual miles on it that has sat in a field for a few years. Paint had a ton of scratches, swirls and the clearcoat was severely hazed. Interior wasn't too bad, just really dusty. My younger son QEW-ed and clayed the exterior, my older boy cleaned the interior and I did the polishing. I figured if anything would put the Detailer's Pride samples I had to the test, this would be it.

I started with the Super Swirl Eliminator and a Meguiars burgandy cutting pad. The fender is polished, the door is not. I had to use flash because I was doing this at the Pilgram's Pride plant and this was the only real out of the way place. At least we had shade. ;)

BTW, the instructions for SSE say not to exceed 4500 rpm but it worked fine for me on 6. Seems to work a long time before drying and dusting a bit. Dusts about the same as DACP but seems more aggressive. Finishes down pretty nicely.

I then used Detailer's Pride Final Finishing Polish with a Meguiars polishing pad. Very nice product as well, definitely made the paint look noticably wetter. My older boy then waxed it by hand with the new version of Poorboy's EX w/carnauba.

Got a few nice late afternoon sun shots. The owner was stunned at how it turned out and frankly my kids and I were as well. When we looked it over yesterday, I didn't imagine paint that rough would turn out so well. My kids are normally pretty blasse about the cars we do because they are usually in pretty good shape to begin with but they looked pretty pleased with their effort today. :)

My son's 1997 Chevy Cavalier. I had polished it out last summer with #80 when his Grandmother still owned it. Paint looked pretty decent for an 8 year old Cavalier but it was garaged until she bought a Corolla this past fall. Only has 67,900 miles on it, should serve him well in college.

Anyway, I polished it with Poorboy's SSR2 using a yellow Propel Cutting pad, Klasse AIO with a Meguiars polishing pad, then finished it out with NXT Paste with a blue Propel finishing pad then topped it with Natty's Blue a couple days later.

2004 Lexus SC430. Weekly regular. Last wax was in late February when I polished it with Clearkote's RMG and waxed with Optimum Car Wax (which was still holding up pretty nicely, btw...had been a bit drier than normal after March though). Simply waxed with 1Z Glanz Wax by hand.

2005 Acura TL. 4 weeks old so as you can expect it was in excellent shape. Polished with Klasse AIO and a Meguiars polishing pad and sealed with Poorboy's EX-P by hand.

I figured I'd use my black car to test Detailer's Pride Waterless Car Wash. It actually works very well but my car was mostly just dusty from the drive to Kentucky and back. Weird thing is, it cleaned the paint well with not visible streaking or marring when checking in the direct sun but it did seem to smear a bit on glass. Nothing a little glass cleaner couldn't handle quickly though.

Half cleaned:

I decided to top it off with Natty's Blue Paste (limited run of 150 jars initially). Very deep, clear and wet. I didn't have any more regular Natty's left to compare side by side but Blue looks really, really deep and wet. :)

That is some nice work you have done there Scott. I can't wait to get better at this and hopefully be just as good as you and the many other vets.

Awesome! Your car looks like it has been dipped in ink. All of the others look amazing as well.

You do all of your machine work with a PC, right? Have you ever tried out a cyclo or rotary?

So what are your thoughts on Natty's Blue?

I like it a lot, and think it works especially well when you mist the panel with S&G and put on a very thin coat. 2 or 3 coats makes a noticeable improvement. At least I can give my pink wax a break for a while :). I guess it's nice to have a variety.

Great work Scott...the pics seem very bright this time around but I am more curious about the Blue Nattys now. :)

Scott,

Your black 626 is looking SWEET! :bow :bow :bow

Very Deep and Very Wet! :xyxthumbs With all the polishing you have done and with the Natty's Blue Paste, your car has that dripping look of using Souveran as the final topper. A great look for your 626!

Keep posting Scott - I always love to look at the great details you perform on the cars you touch.

Cheers,

Showoff :p

The SSR2 w/ yellow pad didn't lean any micro marring? I haven't tried my SSR yet (damn school) but that seems like a relatively aggressive combo, not crazy but enough that it might mar a little bit.

I've tried a Cyclo, may get one, but my ex-wife and I are buying my older boy a laptop before he goes off to college and the a/c in my 626 went out (compressor seized), plus I'm taking a couple weekend trips this month so a Cyclo has to wait. The DP polishes were apparently formulated for PC use, I was really happy how much the Super Swirl Eliminator improved the paint on the S-10, it was almost like I had used a Cyclo or rotary. Maybe I can wait a little longer? :nixweiss

I like the Natty's Blue. Like I said, I am out of the regular Natty's but Blue is every bit as deep as Souveran or CMW.

randomman84, Andrew and hirosh-thanks! I have so much prep into the paint pretty much anything looks good over it, but Natty's Blue definitely gives it a super wet look. I was very pleased with how it turned out.

I have such a love/hate relationship with my black paint. On one hand, it is a pain to keep as swirl free as you can for a daily driver and every little speck of dust shows but when it is polished and sealed properly, nothing looks better than black. My older boy was walking towards a black Maxima yesterday, thinking momentarily it was my car until he realized he couldn't see the whole parking lot clearly reflected in the paint. ;)

UnsanePyro-I guarantee that combo would have marred the paint on my 626 but no problems on my son's car. It just depends on how hard the paint is. If you will notice on the half/half shot of the S-10, using the DP SSE with a burgandy Meguiars pad, even with flash you don't see any marring.

That's exactly what I thought when I read the post. Did the AIO w/ a polishing pad take care of any micormarring that was left behind? I usually get marring when using the orange pad and SSR 2 :nixweiss

I would agree about the DP waterless wash. I think it's pretty great stuff. Works well and has a nice suntan lotion smell; made me want to go back to Hawaii. Do you think it's better than PBs S&W? It seems to be everyones favorite. I have yet to try it b/c Autogeek will be sending me 32 oz. of DP with last weeks order

:bounce

JJ-I think the DP Waterless Wash is similar in cleaning ability to PB's Spray and Wash. I am out of S&W so I can't make a direct comparison but both products work as advertised.

WE ALL know how well you detail and the pictures prove it, but my god your photographic skills are also out of this world. Do you ever take a bad picture?

I've seen pictures that you took around noon (red jeep - VM x2) and even those came out perfect. I take a picture mid afternoon and it looks like $h...

BTW, my camera died on me. Too bad because I've worked on some nice expensive cars lately. :(

PS: Can you tell me more about the "new" PwC? How is it different?

:bow :bow :bow
