Latest details v.getting ready for winter

1995 Mercedes C280, just over 40,000 actual miles. I've been taking car of it since it was nearly new. It had been a few years since any deep polishing, so I went over it with #80 and a polishing pad, topped with #16.

2000 Mercedes ML430. I detail it about once a year. It apparently goes through a tunnel car wash at a gas station because it had fine straight line surface scratches all down the sides. I think you can see the light hazing that seem especially bad on the tailgate.

#80 and a polishing pad and they were gone. Pretty light scratches, I was expecting to need DACP but figured I'd give #80 a try first. Cleaned up real nice. Oh yeah, yes, I did remove the license plate. Much easier to clean that area properly when you do.

I used #80 on the whole truck but also had to use DACP on the hood. Looked like it had been used as a shelf a few times. Finished off with Poorboy's EX w/carnauba.

2000 Cadillac DHS. Another one I detail about once a year. Nice older gentleman who really takes good care of his cars. The interior is always a breeze and he washes it once a week so even the exterior wasn't too bad being a year out of its last detail.

I used #80 with a polishing pad and #16. Notice a trend here? #80 leaves the paint looking real wet and #16 compliments it nicely.

2003 Dodge Ram SLT. Last detailed in late April with Vanilla Moose and EX-P. Truck sits outside 24/7 and as of late August, it was beading nicely, looked good and had decent slickness. It was out in Florida for several weeks and when he got it back here a couple of weeks ago, water laid pretty flat on the horizontal surfaces and very light beading on the sides. I have no idea when EX-P finally died on it. :nixweiss

Anyway, the paint was actually still in good shape so I just did a light polish with PBs Polish w/carnauba and topped it with...you guessed it...#16.

And now for something (half) completely different!

2004 S500 with CeramiClear paint. Very minimal cobwebbing so I used #80 with a polishing pad. Worked very well, although I think to tackle any serious paint correction, at least DACP would be needed and I'm not sure the PC would be up to the task. To be different, I topped it with Wolfgang DGS. Since #80 leaves a light polymer protectant, I wanted to see if WG would bond and have the same durability it has with their precleaner (which is too mild for any real paint correction). I'll keep y'all posted on how it does.

Here is a #16 beading shot, just for kicks!

And last, this would probably be a good "before and after" candidate!

Scott,

Those came out Nice! :xyxthumbs

So you like #80 do you?!:D How does it compare say to VM? What speed do you use #80 with the PC and with what pad?

I do agree that #16 is a sweet topper on just about any color, especially lighter colors. Again, I always love to admire your work Scott! :bow :bow

Cheers,

I really like #80. Its aggressiveness is between #82 Swirl Free Polish and #83 DACP. Definitely more aggressive than Vanilla Moose but it finishes down real nice, very wet look similar to #81 Hand Polish.

Nicky-that whole car is in exceptional shape but I guess you'd expect that with a 9-year-old car with only 40,000 miles on it!

Anthony-not real cold, but with a mild El Nino effect, it may be pretty wet. Not good news for either of us. I've been using mostly #16 and Poorboy's EX w/carnauba since I get good durability results from both. For some reason, the regular EX is more durable for me than EX-P which is a pure sealant. Go figure.

great work! how do you like 16 compared to natty's or P21/S100? again, great work on the details, they are amazing looking!

I think #16 and S100 look pretty similar and Nattys is a bit wetter looking. #16 has better durability based on my own use than the others. Can't go wrong with any of them.

Scott as always words cannot describe the work that you do. I know you're using a polishing pad for #80 but what speed are you using on the PC for the #80...and it's supposed to be worked until it starts to turn clear correct?
