1998 Mercedes S420. Polished late last year but rarely driven. Quick claying (since it sits outside) and then applied Collinite 870 by hand using an MF applicator (the new Meguiars one, I think).

2001 Ford F-150. Pretty decent shape but had some spider swirls and checking in the hood and roof (will need to be repainted eventually). The clouds didn't begin rolling in until I was nearly finished so in the direct sun (upper 60's), I used SSR2.5 with a Meguiars polishing pad, RMG with a blue Propel pad and EX w/carnauba by hand.

Here is a shot of my hood after applying Collinte 870 by hand. I applied it over several layers of various carnaubas using a foam applicator pad....which was probably a mistake since 870 has some cleaning properties. I ended up with some of the wax underneath smearing in a few places. 870 works best over freshly polished paint, not as a topper. Live and learn. Still had a real rich glow.

Scott,

I read you repolished with #80 but dont remember what topper you put on it. Did you use collinte agian? If so let us know on the durability.

To remove the smearing on my car, I tore through all the wax on it and also polished out a few scuffs and light swirls with #80 and a Meguiars polishing pad, then RMG with a blue Propel pad, and topped with NXT Paste using a blue Propel pad. I removed the excess with an ultimate MF bonnet and my PC. NXT Paste sets up a lot more quickly than the liquid and is easier to lay down a thin layer.

Direct sun shots! Excuse the light dust, I wasn't taking a CCD to my hot paint.

2004 BMW M3. I'll have more pics when I finish the roll in my camera. I only had two shots left on this roll.

This car has pretty hard paint, it took several passes with SSR2.5 and a Meguiars polishing pad to remove about 95% of them. I then went over the hood and trunk lid again with SSR2 and a Meguiars polishing pad. Klasse AIO with a Megs polishing pad was next then topped with Shokar Sealant (I probably have enough left for 3-4 more cars. :( ).

These pics aren't that great because of the sun shining through the trees. The other pics should be better.

2003 Chevy Silverado. Regular customer. Had the driver's side of the bed repainted and the body shop got overspray all over the truck. 2 trips back and they hadn't even touched the roof and the hood and the glass still had lots of overspray on them. Clay was barely making a dent in it. Real slow going. I decided to try Clearkote's Compound and a Meguiars cutting pad and it really did the trick! I followed with #80 and a Meg's polishing pad and topped with Collinite 870 by hand.

Last one. 2001 Mercedes C240. Decent shape so I polished it with #80 and a Meguiars polishing pad and topped with EX w/carnauba by hand. Easy, fast and wet looking combo.

Scott, just a question for an expert, do you feel the sharpness of the reflectance is different for waxes -vs- sealants, and how so? sorry if this is off topic, but I want your opinion. I have never used Collinite Waxes, but have heard good things about IW as well as other Collinite products.Your pics are awesome and a product recomendation in themselves. Also, I have heard post after post concerning the durability and almost detergent resistance of this brand. Some people are concerned about industrial chemical contamination and one of the products I thought of was Collinite, as a sort of "barrier cream" for paint in an extrordinarily hostile place.:xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs

Lovin' that BMW. :xyxthumbs

Don't you just love those 4 door trucks along with the cap. Its like a never ending polishing job. How long did it take you on the F-150 doing a 3 step?

Awesome work

Now watch for the run on Collinite. When someone like Scottwax gets those result, for some odd reason it becomes the new craze ;)

Damn, you work wonders on black. Your car is looking great and I'm sure you have loads of happy customers.

A few weeks ago I ran into a post when you first got that car. You had quite a few nasty defects in the paint. Looking at it now, it's hard to believe it's the same car. It would be cool to see a side by side of your car then, and now.

How long do you work in RMG and at what speed on the PC? Have you tried it on white yet? I plan to mess around with it over the weekend.

I wouldn't doubt it, I'm like a year behind as far as the current crazes go. I'm still working on my EX-P and looking forward to trying some 4* UPP...lol...does that make me a bad person?

As expected, incredible work Scott. You really set the bar for all us weekend warriors :bow

I think it's the other way around this time. Collinite has been getting a lot of attention lately and I think Scott wants to see for himself what all the talk is about.

The Collinite product that Scott is using is called 470 Fleetwax. This is not the Collinite that many have been raving about (including myself). This is a liquid cleaner wax. 476s paste and 845 liquid Insulator Wax are the Collinite products that most are using.

I would really like to get hold of some of the 470 cleaner wax and try it out. I use one step cleaner waxes for engine compartment, door jambs, and trunk jambs. If 470 cleans well and has the typical Collinite durability it would be perfect for me.

Scott could apply hand cream as LSP and his details would still look great :p I am surprised by the look of the 870. I expected it to look good, but not this good.

Scott, give the 845 (IW) a try and report your findings..... that is currently my favorite LSP. :up

Good point stevet :up

Like Alex mentioned, definately try the IW. For defending against the hot Texas sun, you can't beat it. However, I don't know how sun friendly it is. I haven't used it in the sun.

:bow :bow :bow

Scottwax, awesome work! I love the M3 especially. GORGEOUS!!!

Quick question, how come you didn't polish the headlights on the C240? They look a little cloudy. What the heck did the owner do to them?
