First, here is a 2005 Ford F-250. Regular weekly wash customer. The truck was clayed on the hood and roof and waxed with Poorboy's EX w/carnauba....on October 12th. I washed it with QEW on December 22nd and took this picture. We had a ton of rain in November and this truck is his primary vehicle. EX was still beading very well and there is noticable surface slickness. :)

This is the detail of my car after I took it to a tunnel car wash since it was 30 degrees.



This is after polishing with Meguiars #80 ONLY, using a polishing pad.

I finished it off with Vanilla Moose with a polishing pad, CK's test Yellow Wax and a finishing pad, and Carnauba Moose by hand.

Okay, okay, now the Z8!



It was pretty dirty to begin with. It is his daily driver and it hadn't been washed in a while (obviously). I only see it twice a year when I detail it, the rest of the time he runs it through a tunnel car wash because he just isn't close enough for me to come by regularly.

This is after washing the wheels and fenderwells with Gold Class, the rest of the car with QEW:

As you can see, after washing the car is in decent shape. I normally use EX-P or UPP on silver, but I wanted to try something different, so I used Vanilla Moose by hand, CK's Yellow Wax with a finishing pad and Carnauba Moose by hand. I think the combination gave a very deep and wet look for silver paint.

A couple hood shots from different angles. You can see how the combination of metallic and the lighting gives a completely different look depending on the angle.

The EX still looks great on the F-250...I'm lovin those headlights on it.



Do you consider the Yellow Wax to add that much more than VM/CMW? Both yours and the Z look great, just curious of the extra step is worth it.
 
Sean-the yellow wax (or more likely, yellow creme glaze or something similar if it ends up for retail sale) noticably adds wetness and depth, similar to Meguiars #7 or #81 but with even greater ease of use than VM. Wipes off with no effort and doesn't streak at all, even though it was right around the freezing mark when I was using it on my car.

I guess the Yellow wax will be discussed on your fave product list Scott? wink-wink-nudge-nudge. ;)

Yeah, I know. The pics of my car are on the verge of being too dark to be useful. Not much I can do 15 minutes before sunset and I am already running late to get to my parent's for Christmas Eve festivities. Just no time to really move it anywhere to get some better shots. Besides, even if I had time, the sun would have been too low to get the shot anyway. :(

I really like the modest update on the new F250s, the grill is much improved, the headlight stack looks great and the interior is a bit more plush.

I was thinking the same thing. The new Super Duty is gorgeous. Looks like the Tonka Truck prototype they put out a while back. [I think it was in some kind of music video, too].
 
Wow, how does it feel detailing a 128,000 dollar car? MMmmmm. I would be afraid I would mess it up, or just know they are rich and charge them an extra 200 dollar service fee they would never miss :D . Either way that is a sick car, I had to go back up to look at the truck. Awsome job:xyxthumbs . After going up for the truck I went back down for the Z. Gotta love BMW.

Actually, there didn't seem to be any damage but they missed the bottom of the front bumper, the door jams were half wiped down and the interior windows were streaked...but it was stuff I could take care of quickly and beat having wet hands when it was 31 degrees.



Rudamous-$128k is cheap compared to some of the cars I do regularly! :p I've done some many high end cars now, I really don't worry about it. I give the same care to a Civic anyway. Treat all cars good and you don't end up with bad habits that may mess up a high end car.



His M1 was a little intimidating the first time I did it because I know how rare they are and his is a 1978 with less than 2000 actual miles! :eek:
 
M1!!!....most people don't even know what an M1 is let alone get to see one in their lifetime. Got any pictures of that bad boy?
