Latest details v.after 11 years, I finally detailed a BMW 850!

I've seen one 850 in my entire life, and it was about 3 weeks ago. I kept looking wondering "What the hell is that thing!?!?". I've never even heard of them before. Any more info on them?

Details are lookin' great as usual Scott :)

Matt-I know this one has the V12 and I suspect it is pretty quick for a mid 90's luxury sport. 14 flat at around 100 or so if I remember right. He bought the car used but said he has the original sticker and the car listed for $99,000!

I really like 840/50's, one of the few BMW's that makes me look twice (a clean previous gen 7-series with M-wheels being the other, like AMP's car). However, they sure were expensive and heavy with pretty atrocious mileage. Every once in a while I'll search online for 850 Csi's just to see. They still seem to be $40-50k, though Ci's and 840's are less. It does look weird with that black door handle, and the front 1/4 panel looks like it doesn't match up with the bumper, but still a cool car. :xyxthumbs

Scott how do you clean the rims? Do you just hit them with QEW and what tools do you use?

QEW and I have a few wheel brushes of various shapes and sizes. On vehicles that are well cared for, I've never needed to use a dedicated wheel cleaner.

Jay-I've used VM/#16 and PwC/#16 on several vehicles and at the 3-4 month point when I rewax them, they are still beading and look really good. One of them (VM/16) is beading still (at least as of early December) and my son did the exterior work in early June.

If you ever see an 850 Csi, it's basically the M version of the 8 series, the engine is tuned by the BMW M(otorsport) division, and is the basic engine that was used in the McLaren F1. They came in 6 speed only, had MUCH larger brakes, and mirrors like those on the e36 M3. I know a guy who's spring home is in San Diego that has two of them, one of them is an Alpina(I think, I saw it last about 2 years ago) tuned model with a custom SMG style gearbox conversion and about 600 HP. It's red :)
