Last shot at the Viper

Today was my last dance with the 1994 Hennessey Viper Venom 600 that I've been detailing for the last year and a half or so. Mike called me the other day and asked me to come out and give it one last detail before the new owner picked it up tonight. You'll have to excuse that most of the pictures in this album don't have the hood on. The Hennessey hood is designed to lift off the car when you need to work on the engine. it doesn't hinge like the stock hood does.

He wanted me to clean up the other pieces that I hadn't detailed before too. He went to Hennessey shortly after he bought the car in 1994, so I don't know how they got so thrashed. The front was covered in scuffs and tar. Nothing that Four Star Adhesive and Tar remover and a little ScratchX couldn't handle, but it was certianly a mess. Then there was the issue of all the overspray. When the new parts were painted they must have just left thse lying on the floor near by. They were totally covered in overspray. It took awhile to get it all off. I wasn't really prepared for overspray and I just had some standard Four Star clay with me. It did the job just fine though. A little Wolfgang pre-wax and sealant and the job was done. I'll miss detailing this car, but I'm sure whatever he buys to replace it will be just as sweet. I gave him one of my fridge magnet business cards so he wouldn't forget to call me when he gets his new ride. :)

edit:

I guess I should tell you about the rest of the products used. I used Four Star Rubber and Vinyl Protectant on the engine parts. It was only dusty, so I wiped it down with a wet wash mit and then applied the protectant after. It took awhile to clean out all the dust, but it looked really good after.

I used Four Star Bazooka tire shine on the tires. I like Bazooka because I have never had it sling. Eagle One Wet is my second favorite, but even that one slings a little bit... Bazooka doesn't.

Invisible Glass on the window and headlights.

NXT wash on the outside.

Wolfgang on the paint.

Wolfgang Leather Conditioner on the seats.

Meguiar's Interior Detailer on the rest of the inside.

Beautifal machine and buetifal detailing. It must be hard to see that go. Im sure someone with a ride like that will get one just as sweet or sweeter and call ya right back up to take care of it!

Great detail, thats an amazing and beautiful machine.

I'm sure that Mike will be replacing that with another fine automobile, and maybe the new owner would want to keep the Viper looking just as good :D

Maybe he's replacing it with one of the newer Hennesy Vipers, the ones with 1000 HP the go to 60 in 2.X seconds and top out faster than the Enzo. Hope for one of those.

He doesn't have any plans to replace it with anything right away. He only sold it for 45K anyway and I'm sure his next car is more than that. He's a funny guy. He sold his M5 when he curbed a wheel. lol He'll get something cool I'm sure. I won't be seeing it again though. The new owner lives out of state somewhere.

Kinda hard to detail the undercarriage of a car that sits about an inch off the ground. lol I couldn't have fit a hose under there let alone my hand or a brush. This car has never seen a wet road and I'm sure it is clean enough down there. The engine had never been detailed before and it wasn't really that bad considering it's 10 years old. I wasn't worried enough about the undercarriage to go through the hassle and neither was Mike.

Incredible car !!! Good to see the owner kept the maintenance in the hands of a worthy professional !!!

I love that color !!!

Bah... Vipers are for guys who can't pick up more than one lady at a time. :naughty Real men need backseats. :bigups

Why is it yellow? Is that the color it came or did he have it repainted that way for extra HP? :lol Seriously. Is Yellow a factory color? It looks good.

I hope you left your business card somewhere in the car. The new owner might have some other nice rides to be detailed after seeing your viper results.

Just a thought!

How well does the Four Star Adhesive and Tar remover perform? Better than the 3M Version? I don't see it on PAC's site.

This is actually the product I used on the tar. I really like it. It makes short work of tar. Not quite as fast as mineral spirits, but in my experience it is every bit as good as the 3M product. I use it alot for removing dealership emblem adhesive when I debadge cars. It is really a versitile and useful product. If you had a bottle in your garage then you would most certianly find a use for it somewhere.

Since the Viper will be living out of state I don't think the owner will be calling me to do any details. I don't know where the new owner is from, but the Viper was being put on a trailer and hauled off last night. I did leave a card in the glove box just in case the new owner wanted to check out www.ocdetails.com and get some ideas on how to keep it looking good. He should be interested in doing that since this car is featured on the site. :)

Yellow was the factory color. It was the first year that Dodge offered Yellow and it is one of the rarest colors. The bad thing is that when different parts were painted they didn't do a great job of matching the yellows. Light colors are the hardest to match since just a little more of this or a little less of that throws it off. That is the case on a couple areas on this car. Its not a perfect paint job, but it would take someone pretty anal to notice. Oh wait... that's me. :D

Nice detail. :bow

I am not sure about the styling on that car but you certainly can't argue with the performance stats. :)
