Washed the Mustang today for the first time after BF. I used the BF Spray QD immediately after the wash. I think that the shine is the same, and the slickness is the same. I think it may actually have more slickness, but that may be from the QD. So far, so good! But this is only one wash and it has not really been exposed the elements yet. It's been approx 1 month since application give or take a week or two...

Some Blackfire users agree that gloss and slickness was depleted as eary as after the first washing. Just to see if all users agree or disagree, can you evaluate it after your next wash BEFORE you quick detail? A QD'er will make a non waxed car slick and glossy.....

Thanks and keep us posted.

I actually did run my hand over it before the QD. It felt pretty much like it did before the wash. Smooth. I don't think any of the products I've uses have an oily slick feeling before the QD. It has a smooth slick feel, and yes BF still had that after the 1st wash. I will let you know how it goes after further washing.

My son applied Zaino to his Accord about a week ago and to me, it feels about the same as the Blackfire surface (before a QD is applied to either). The QD definitely gives both the oily slick feeling. The Zaino definitely beads more that BF giving that pretty beaded appearance after a rain which looks very similar to Klasse with Souveran or Blitz coatings. I definitely see that BF does not darken the coat like Klasse/Blitz did. I could barely see the metal flakes when I had that on. With Blackfire, it enhances the metal flakes, probably like Zaino does....

I was one of the first to get BlackFire, and I offered to apply it to my wife's friend's Mercedes E420 (2000 or 2001). The car is primarily a garage queen...when I detailed it, it had 2,335 miles and it's always garaged. She doesn't work, and only drives when running errands, etc. (They have 7 cars between the two of them)

So, I applied the BF after claying and washing with Dawn twice (wash, clay, wash). Since the paint was in great condition, I didn't use any 3M products beforehand. I applied 1 coat of the polish and 3 coats of the sealant, using my PC and CMA pads.

At first, I was really impressed with it because it looked great and was so easy to use. I thought it was going to be my new favorite product.

I did the initial detail about a week before Thanksgiving. She drove it home, and then came back for a wash about three weeks later (2,412 miles). I was shocked at how unslick the car was before the wash, and even more shocked by how the wash didn't seem to improve it at all. I QD'd it and sent her back home.

She came back today for a second wash (2,501 miles) and it's like I never even waxed it. The surface isn't slick at all, but it is still somewhat glossy. I did a side-by-side with my BMW (similar colors) which had been P21S'd around the second week of December, and I swear the BMW was more slick.

She swears she hasn't been through any carwashes, nor has her husband washed the car inbetween. Another thing I noticed that turned me off a bit was that the black trim pieces seemed to "dry out" with the BF wash, unlike when washing with Zaino Z7 which seems to give a bonus "dressing" of the trim.

It might be the Mercedes paint, but my initial impressions have faded quickly (unfortunately, because it was so easy to apply and use). I'll follow up later, after another wash.

I washed my truck today for the first time and didnt notice any difference in gloss or slickness. I have 5 coats of BF. The BF feel was never really that slick to me as compared to Blitz or #26 and I saw no difference before the wash in shine. I dont have a garage so my truck is outside 24/7 and I only QD'd 1 time in a month with OG Show Off. It has been raining here for a few days with some light snow and so far the BF is holding up great.

I waxed my wifes car with #20 and #26 and at first the shine is identical to BF. But after about 2 weeks my truck still looks the same and the carnuba showed a definite loss of shine. However the carnuba is much slicker even after 2 weeks.

I'm not quite sure how slickness correlates to gloss or shine. I know that if something is wet or oily it looks and feels slick. The sealants to me don't feel oily or wet, smooth maybe, is that what you mean by slick? They all feel smooth to me if the prep was done right.

I agree with you completely, big. On the Mercedes, I clayed it and used a little SMR/FI-2 and followed that with a second Dawn wash. The surface felt very smooth and of course it still felt smooth after the BF was applied...but it just didn't feel "slick" like say a freshly waxed panel would.

I'm going to keep my eye on it, and I've put a little "trigger" on the car to see if it visits the carwash before I get to it again. (small grease pencil mark on rocker panel)

We'll see what happens...

Here?s a special little project we?ve been working on. Before pictures didn?t come out so good. Have a couple of ?during? pictures, and the rest are afters.

Enjoy!
