Mary, what’s it been, a month since your last new polisher? I’m amazed at your self restraint. I definitely think you should have this. ;)

I think there was a post about this early this month on another forum. I haven`t purchased a unit yet, and was thinking about this one, but at $600 plus I think it`s marketed toward pros and wayyy more than I wanted to spend for a first unit.

While we`re on the subject of new machines...How did your new Rupes 21 work out Mary?? Mine made it about 20 minutes. Well 15-20 minutes twice. Guess it needs a breather in between panels. This is the second new Rupes I`ve gotten that was bad right out of the box. I took a hit on the first one selling it on eBay after the second major repair. If they tell me they`re going to fix this machine we`re going to have problems!

Sorry, looked l

This is exactly why I went with Griot`s.

What kind of reply have you had from Rupes? I’ve never had a machine problem (and two of mine are demos), but I had a problem with some pads and their response was very quick.

I`m still trying with the Rupes MKll 21, think it runs me, more than I run it !
Like the length and the 6" pads, will be perfect for the larger areas that I bought it for.

This is exactly why I went with Griot`s.

Now, the Boss 21.. Bold, tough, accurate, doesn`t easily stall.
Was a joy to run right out of the box.
A bit heavier then the Rupes 21 I think.

After I polish for a while I get desensitized to the feel, so I want an OLED or LCD display that shows me how I have the polisher positioned relative to the surface at the center of the pad. I imagine a large plus sign with tick marks as the base graph with a superimposed indicator showing my angle.

And if it`s easy for the manufacturer to produce this, I`d also like to see how much pressure I`m applying as well as orbits per minute.

At $600-plus I believe this is doable.

No display is needed, just polish enough paint and you’ll get the technique down.

Well - July 15 2020 and no tool. I`ve bought two polishers since they made the big announcement of a tool by Spring 2019 - they said they`d been developing it since summer of 2018...two years is a long time. I liked the concept but then I heard about too much vibration, too much weight and a tool that went from something with the kinds of real improvements that I wanted (cord went upward out of the back, features on the handles to let me hold it for a long time without cramping and a comfortable shape from front to back, kinda like the Griots machines) but now it looks like grandpa`s grinder with a brick on the front of it.

August 25th, still no tool :( They announced that thing 2 1/2 years ago. lol

For sure the pandemic has slowed everything down including this apparently..
Sounds like a great idea, but with all the choices it has to do, how do they ever design the parts to be able to endure them for long hours at a time, for months, even years of constant use??
Answer - talk to the Flex people... :) They only make machines for polishing stone, etc., and have a long history doing it..
Hopefully, you will get a progress report soon -- Have you checked here for one ? Check out our website: 403 Forbidden and sign up for updates. <<< I clicked it and it still took me to the L/C website...
